Never Again
This is not a quality operation and seems intent on creating needless billings. We were convinced to sign up for the insurance program and when our dog went for a routine tooth cleaning they called and told us she needed a biopsy of a spot on her tummy. When we brought her back for the biopsy, which they had told us would be $200, the price had gone up to $600, including $25 for rubber gloves, etc. While my husband was arguing with them, they whisked our little dog into their back room and he had to make a major fuss to get her returned. Banfield gets an F for cleanliness, courtesy and professionalism and is no place to take a dog you love.

STAY AWAY!
My cat needed a surgery. I questioned their prices and they were fast to pull out their payment options which included up to 20% interest to pay off their "surgery" (and try to get me to stay longer to watch their VIDEO on it!!!).
When I balked, they tried to incite compassion as the reason I should sign up as they were "trying to help people out" with their payment options.
I went to another vet yesterday and they quoted me 3/4 LESS that Banfield! You can see what Banfield's trying to do here and why they were really trying to put the pressure on you.
P.S. You can peek into their "surgery" room, which every employee walks around, in and out of constantly. There's no compassion or respect for the animal they're performing surgery on! Would you really want your pet to go through that sort of unsanitary environment and pay three times more for it???

horrible experience!
I took my 1 year old dog here b/c she hurt her paw and her normal vet is 2 hours away. From the beginning the receptionist was rude. Then b/c my dog was scared and skittish they decided she had to be muzzled (she never has been before). I told them I would muzzle her as I knew she wouldn't like it and I know how she reacts. She started grumping and nipping at my hand in protest which is nothing that hurts but I guess looks highly aggressive. So after I get her muzzled the vet tech drags her into the back (against my wishes) to see the vet. Not 5 minutes later does the vet come in saying my dog isn't being cooperative so the only way she will work w/her is if she is sedated because she is a vicious dog who is a risk to the staff. I explained that she is scared, I'm unhappy with the way things are going so far (1 1/2 in now), and we would both do better if she was in the room w/me. Now mind you she has NEVER had a problem w/her normal vet, but then again they don't muzzle her and drag her around. The vet then tells me I need to see a behaviorist ASAP before my dog maims/kills someone. Seriously?! In the end my dogs paw never did get looked at, I got a quote of over $500 to get her paw checked out for what is "probably a sprain" which I refused, and I had to pay $35 for services I don't feel they rendered. They also recommended a few hundred dollar teeth cleaning as she shows "early signs of gum disease". I'm wondering how they saw that through the muzzle of my "vicious dog"!

Rip Off,
The doctor had records from a previous vet, but two separate vets spent the entire visit trying to convince me to pay hundreds of dollars to redo vacination and test on a healthy dog. In my opinion BANFIELD is a scam, and the pet insurance is a way to keep you hostage to their scam. STAY AWAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PET HOSPITAL.

Both good and bad
I hate to bash this place because Dr. Freshwater and Charles take such great care of my animals. Unfortunately, even if you schedule an appointment with Dr. Freshwater, you probably won't see Dr. Freshwater and you'll get someone else. She is very realistic, pinpoints the problems, and treat those problems specifically. The other vets want tons of blood work and tests. The vet visit itself is $35 (a bargain), but if you don't see Dr. Freshwater, your bill will easily top $200 for a simple illness. To boot, your appointment time means nothing. You will wait and wait and wait and wait. Expect the visit to be 2-3 hours. But, I think all 3 vets are the most competent ones in the area.
