Beware of Barry!!, 5/12/2007

Barry installed a heating and cooling unit in my townhome when it was built in Aug 2002. I've had problems heating each winter and cooling each summer. Initially I didn't know who installed the... unit, so I contacted Empire for service. A technician advised me that the cause for my repeated problems was an incorrectly installed part, cost to repair $600. I contacted the president of my HOA for the company who installed the unit. Barry came highly recommended for the service he provided to others in my subdivision. When I called and explained my situation to him, his response was "you'll have to pay me too because I can't believe that happened." I was unpleasantly surprised at how defensive he was and responded "I don't know that it DID happen, I'm merely contacting you to look at it because you installed the unit." He said "I don't know you or if I did install it." I told him where I lived and who referred me and expressed my concern that he appeared unwilling to even look at it and determine the problem. The proverbial straw was his response, "Ma'am, I don't care if I did install it, I don't want to be bothered with this." Could it be that Barry doubts his own workmanship and would rather not even look at his own work and offer a professional (or in this case unprofessional) opinion.
