Belmont Park

Belmont Park is a nice clean mix of many of the best you'd find on a boardwalk, pier, mall, amusement park, piazza, etc but on a much smaller more intimate way. First off Canes is there, a great venue and bar right off the beach with roof top seating and there a couple other eateries/bars within the Park. There are a lot of more seemingly upscale beachy shopping type of stores there. There is also your run of the mill cafe/snowcone/ice cream parlor you might find at an old school boardwalk from the 30s. And of course you have the Giant Dipper and the smaller rides and old school carny games that give you that old school amusement park, carnival, boardwalk pier vibe. The Giant Dipper itself is not the only one of its kind and has lasted ages. It's made of wood, and the rickety sounds it makes just adds to the thrill of this very simple coaster. Granted not as giant as what most are used to at a Six Flags and far more old fashioned than that, it is a nice ride. The Giant Dipper at the SC Beach Boardwalk is far better maintained and used much more. They do need to take care of this relic much better. The park itself on most days is very empty and ghost town like, which is a shame. If it got more attention and maybe had more activities for all ages that stay open longer, maybe a few cafes and restaurants, it might be much better. There is a nice huge lot which fills up quick with beach goers, but plenty of parking across the street. It's lacking alot, pretty bland and boring.

This park is really pretty and is a great place for a picnic and to bring the family. There is a vast area to play around!

Located at Mission Beach, Belmont Park offers some of the best things about San Diego – beach, shopping, and the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster! It’s like an open-air Mall of America on a much smaller scale. Belmont Park has some great stores and restaurants for people to try while going to the beach. Restaurants range from the Sweet Shoppe, a great place to buy candies and ice cream to family restaurants; they even have a couple roof-top bars for the adults. Belmont Park also offers some great rides like the wooden Giant Dipper Roller Coater, Beach Blaster, and Chaos. Some rides have height minimums for children; there are some kiddie rides as well, however. They include a carousel, a submarine ride, and a few more. These rides can cost around $5 to $6, but you can buy an All-Day wristband for $23 (about $16 for children’s rides). You can ride an unlimited amount of times for the entire day. For the summer, a coupon can be found on belmontpark.com for a $10 off coupon, so that the wristbands are only $13. [You can only use that coupon on Thursdays for the rest of the summer, however.] It’s a great experience for those of you who want to see what San Diego has to offer.

Great place located in Mission Beach.It's a good family tourist spot. There are a lot of carnival/arcade games, a wooden rollercoaster, carnival rides and shops. There's this cool mock "wave" thing called the Flowrider where its seems like you are actually surfing that I wanted to try, but didn't have the time to do it.
