Making a Big Difference, 1/27/2012

Benchmark is changing my life. This has been great for me physically and emotionally. I've had problems for over 4 years and am now beginning to feel better with life. I love this place and I don't... know why no one has recommended this to me in the past. I am finally getting better.

Best Ever PT Experience, 1/27/2012

The three month's experience was the best ever physical therapy in my life and the primary therapist, Lindsay, is by far the most outstanding, knowledgeable therapist I've worked with. I feel my... stamina has improved overall, and I've learned especially something important: When I feel most tired, achey or in pain, rather than resting completely by going back to bed, it is critical to get up, move around and keep going for overall well being. Thank you Benchmark!

Impressive Staff

The staff are all very friendy and professional. The office staff were always helpful in setting appointments. Derek treated me a few times and certainly knows his professional. ALesha did most of my treatments and she is certainly impressive. I made tremendous progress under her care and supervision. She is a delight and a pleasure to work with. I will always remember them and remain appreciative of their effort and professionalism.

One of the best!

This location is managed by Derek Clewley, who is one of the best PT's around. He does mentor students (although at the time of my PT, he was not doing so) because he is so highly respected. My sessions with him and his partner were very educational and effective and I was pain free when I left his care. My only criticism is that they don't have fancy equipment--but they seem to do very well with what they have!

Watch your charges

Although the staff is friendly, they did not keep track of my husband's visits and exceeded the alloted number the insurance company would pay for, then sent us a large bill. We had no idea this was going on as we trusted them to keep track of it, after all the insurance card is the first thing any healthcare provider asks for, even before you put foot in the door. They also never told us to keep track either, which I would have gladly done, even though they are the ones with the records. They use a lot of students for your therapy, but that is no problem. When I complained about the over run, all I got from the head office is a lecture about looking for new insurance and a refusal to address the question of why we were not told we had ran out of time??? This is a first after 2 major surgeries in 4 months dealing with multiple healthcare providers. Nasty surprise after paying big bucks for health insurance and large deductables. This is unprofessional behavior.

Watch Your Pocketbook

My husband had physical therapy at Benchmark PT in Sandy Springs. Although the staff was pleasant enough, he is under the impression that some of the people who directed portions of his therapy were not more than office staff. They also use a lot of students, which he was OK with. He was not billed at the rate for office staff conducted therapy, of course. The crunch came when we found out that they did not keep within the confines of the number of physical therapy visits allowed by our insurance company. My husband even mentioned quitting because his flexibilty was more than adequate, and they told him to do 2 more visits. They also did not tell us to keep up with the number of visits either. We trusted them to do what every other provider of medical care did in 2 major surgeries this year. We trusted them not to exceed what the insurance company would pay for, or at least notify us that they were not doing this. We received a large bill. for the over run amount. Very unpleasant when we are paying a fortune for health insurance with a very large deductable. The company has absolutely NO excuse for this oversite on their part, except to lecture us on our insurance coverage.
