Bill has been so very helpful treating my depression and other issues such as self-acceptance. I have a much better self-esteem today because of his ability to target the flaws in my feelings and thought processes and reversing them to help me see the reality of situations. He is not judgemental and is truthful about in expressing his opinions. I used to see him every two or three weeks in the beginning, but I now just see him about every 6 weeks for follow-up.

As this review points out, counseling isn't helpful just when a crisis is happening in a person's life. When people improve their quality of thoughts, they usually feel better about themselves and their relations with others. And while some people benefit from longer-term counseling, many schedule only a few appointments to get the benefit they are seeking.
Bill Herring is the best therapist. He has helped me in my personal and professional life along with many of my referrals. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Bill for all you have done for me. You are truly a remarkable person.

It's extremely gratifying to know that so many wonderful people appreciate and support my efforts with them. I admire and take courage from how so many of my clients have grown and prevailed in the face of great adversity and turmoil.
We were initially skeptical about attending counseling again as a couple-our first two attempts were not effective. Bill proved to be the right choice. He has helped us develop better communication skills and a growing respect and love for each other. We highly recommend him. What a small investment really, for a major change in our marriage and relationship with each other. Additionally, as an African-American couple, ethnicity was not a factor in our ability to bond and work with him.

"Investment" is a great word. While I want to make the experience of therapy as effective as possible, there's no getting around the fact that it takes a commitment of money, time and emotional effort to make the process work. If someone is on the fence I ask them to consider the high cost of doing nothing and ask yourself, "What am I worth?"
I am questing for my LCSW licensure, and have worked with Bill Herring on my clinical supervision hours for over a year now. Bill is the best clinical supervisor I know. His creative, friendly and direct style appealed to me immediately. He brings a unique, fresh and experienced perspective to case studies and practice issues. His knowledge base comes from a combination of acedemic and practical experience, as it should. Perhaps most importantly, Bill is a therapist who actually cares about the human condition. I believe any therapist who is serious about h/her practice would benefit from Bill's tutelage.

I love to help therapists grow to be the best they can be for their clients. It's been a joy to supervise so many talented, caring and dedicated individuals.
We have worked with Bill on different occasions over a 15 year period. He has supportes us as individuals as well as with marriage and family counseling. Bill has offered us practical help and advise with our problems where others failed. I would highly recommend him for anyone who has lost faith in other providers.

It's an honor when a person trusts and values my involvement with them over a long period of time. Life brings unique challenges across the life cycle, and people often find it helpful to have a trusted resource who knows them well to talk with at different stages in their life's journey.
Bill has been a cheerleader for me even when I can't be for myself. He is warm, empathetic and usually quite insightful. He is very non-judgemental when one speaks to issues of addiction or sexuality with him. I always leave our sessions with renewed hope and clarity of purpose. Bill's fees are reasonable and fairer than some other therapists I've seen in the past.

I love the idea of cheerleading my clients. I find that people are often way too critical of themselves. Change is hard enough without all the self-shaming language we heap on ourselves! Encouragement from others and a persistently positive self-regard is a much better way to keep moving forward in this hard world.
I am a young therapist in the field. I went to Bill to receive clinical supervision. He is an amazing supervisor. He has a great clinical mind and analyzes each case from multiple perspectives. He is always willing to assist with any scenario. Bill helped me fine tune my clinical skills and reach a new level of clinical understanding. I recommend his supervision services to any therapist in need of hours.

I mightily love providing supervision and consultation to therapists. Every one is different and brings unique skills to the craft of helping people heal and grow. To me, providing supervision to a therapist is like polishing a gem so it can shine its brightest.
Bill Herring is everything his web site promises -- and more! Talking with Bill is like talking with a best friend, parent, confidante and wise old man, all-in-one. (Except he's not old!) Whether you're struggling with relationships with spouses or children, dealing with addictions, or just needing sage advice, Bill Herring is spot-on with his guidance. Direct when he needs to be, but never threatening. Compassionate and caring? Absolutely. Smart, definitely. Professional, always. My marriage has blossomed because of Bill's help. My children are blessed through Bill's help. You and your children can be, too!

I'm very grateful to whoever wrote this testament. I hope to consistently live up to this standard with everyone who comes to me for help, so that I always provide the kind of assistance I would want in a similar situation.
The time I have spent with Bill has been very productive. He provides concrete advice and I feel like I benefit from each session. I have seen several other therapists in the past. Bill is intelligent, a very good communicator, and has helped me much more than other Phd psychologists I saw previously.

I'm very glad that people are able to use words like productive, concrete, and helpful to describe the benefits they've gained from our time together.
Having known Bill Herring for several years, I know that he has lived a full life with many travails and difficulties that enable him to understand pain and growth. He is able to help others in meaningful ways by drawing on hard-earned wisdom. Bill is a courageous fighter who can ably impart authentic encouragement and help others gird against life's greatest challenge: overcoming delusions of one's own mind.

I appreciate receiving this feedback from a dear friend who knows my own life story. While I don't think it's necessary or even helpful to know a lot of personal information about your therapist, it's reassuring to know that you can entrust yourself to a person who has earned that honor by having "walked the walk".
Bill Herring was recommended to me at a very crucial time in my life. With a wonderful mix of compassion and professionalism, he was my guide through a difficult transition. He helped me learn new, "no nonsense" ways to relate to life's challenges. Although I no longer live in Atlanta I would highly recommend him to anyone who is open to exploring their life and interested in making changes.

Thanks. People often seek counseling during a crucial time in their life. It can be a real challenge to make good choices and the right changes during such times. While I don't make a habit of telling people what to do, my track record shows that I can generally help a person to make healthy, important decisions and find the courage to carry them out.
In my life, I have been to several therapists, whether because of moving or different circumstances. Bill was recommended within my recovery group and I was lucky enough to get him. Bill and I connected on many levels and I felt that I benefitted from him in more ways than I can say. Without reservation, I recommend him. He helped him in ways that I honestly think no one else could have.

I appreciate and recommend the immense benefit that comes from attending any of the many different support and recovery groups available for free in the Atlanta area. No matter what difficult situation a person may be dealing with, there is almost always a group of caring and supportive individuals who can offer their experience, strength and hope. No one has to struggle alone.
Bill has made a real difference in my quest for a better life. I have undergone some hard struggles to improve the way I treat myself and others, and Bill has been a consistently gentle, steady, stable, wise, understanding, and accepting influence who has helped me to grow, to be more loving to myself and others, and to hold on to hope in dark times. I've been to a couple of other counselors in the past, and each had something positive to offer, but Bill has provided the most meaningful assistance I've experienced -- in part becuse I was ready to do the work (nothing takes the place of that) -- and I am profoundly grateful to have let him into my life.

I know I'm not always the right counselor for everyone, and I rest easier knowing that there are very many outstanding providers in the Atlanta area. If I feel a colleague is a better match for dealing with a particular situation, I make that referral. For the many clients who find they are able to settle in to do some meaningful work with me, the results are often extremely gratifying for both of us.
After bouncing around to quite a few therapists in my past, I can say without hesitation that Bill has the ability to offer honest, insightful assistance without ever coming across as judgmental or heavy handed. No matter the issue, Bill has been able to provide some key advice that has helped me tremendously. I can't recommend him enough!

Since I don't usually know who is writing a review, I'm not worried that the person is just trying to please me or that it will affect the way I treat anybody. This work often involves walking with people along some hard emotional roads. These reviews have given me a great deal of validation and reassurance about the quality of service I provide, and I'm very grateful for that.
Bill has provided me with kind, caring and compassionate service and help. He is professional with compassion and understanding. he has been a constant support through my time with him.

I'm appreciative of these kind remarks and hope to be able to provide the same qualities to everyone I work with.
