Great place, but never a good line up
I really like this place despite the parking issues it presents (mostly street) and it's location. It's got that underground vibe to it, and if you have been to Gilman Street in Berkley it has that kind of vibe but way more grown up. Very DIY and fun to just hang out. Great bar selection, great little stage and upper terrace seating, outdoor patio (converted from part of the parking lot) with some seating. There is a lounge area that has old couches and stuff in it with a TV and a pool table nearby which gives this public venue a very private feeling. Great for a rock n roll show. But lately, they have been having pretty lame line ups. Whatever happened to Punk Rock Karaoke? That was fun

Bigger Than Casbah
Ok,it's seedy, but, bigger than Casbah, and cheaper than 4th&B.
This is an excellent place to see a band. I saw Martha Davis (the Motels). The venue has a couch near the stage and chairs and couches in the back, on the other side of the huge bar. There is an open floor for dancing or moving up to see the band. We loved it! Most tickets seem to be $10-$20 which very affordable. True parking is on the street but if you are lucky you wont be too far away. Get yer dirnk on at Tio Leos first and Lot 81 next door where you can eat and have drinks.

A Hole in the Wall
Instead of calling it Brick by Brick, a Hole in the wall is better: tucked away on a side street, this place is the kind where you might have seen Kurt Colbain practice in,,,for free.
Large open space, local bands, chill crowd.

No Frills
This is the type of place new bands can cut their teeth in; no frils, just live music.
Not for the trendy fancy crowd.

good club to go to with out massive crowds
This is one of those places that I like to go to listen to very good local musicians and with out the huge crowds of people waiting to get in. Staff is friendly and take care of you.
