shop around, choose your oncologist wisely
Cancer is hard enough. It doesn't help when you end up with a crappy oncologist. This doctor's bed-side manner is the absolute worse! He never responds to emails, never returns calls - he pretty much just hide behind his nurse practioner. I was in a lot of pain during chemo, bone pain! I placed call after call after call to the office, each time the nurse would tell me to keep trying the pain medicine - no matter how many times I told her it was not helping. When I developed side effects that the doctor was unfamiliar with, he dismissed them and said they were likely unrelated to the chemo. I searched online and found forum after forum of women who experienced the exact same side effects while taking the same chemo. Some of the posts were even 4 to 5 years old - this let me know that my symptoms were not 'new'. I was surprised that the doctor didn't bother to do any research. My list of problems/concerns with this doctor goes on and on I left Dr Brodeur and switched to a new oncologist after I completed my last chemo treatment - I wanted to switch sooner....
