In January I took a Tahitian pearl necklace and bracelet in to have the leather string replaced. It took them over 3 weeks to replace it and I paid $60 for the repair. When I got home I noticed the measurements to both items were wrong. I took them back the same week to have them re-done and gave them the exact measurements. Five weeks later, it still was not fixed. I called and was told that the repair jeweler couldn't fine the right length for the gauge of leather needed. I said that if they couldn't fix it I would be in the next day to pick it up and wanted my money back. Lo and behold! It got fixed. They made a big deal about the gauge and length of leather needed. Interestingly enough, Hobby Lobby right around the corner had the exact same material for $1.99. This is the second time I've taken in something for repair and it wasn't correct. The first time was a watch and they didn't put the seal back in correctly and the watch got moisture in it. Never again Brown & Co. You're repair department is amateur

My husband & I were treated very rudely at Brown & Co this past weekend. We went in looking for a ring as a Christmas present. It took 15 minutes to get service, and finally a young girl helped me who was not very polite. I found a ring style that I loved but did not like the actual stone. I know from experience that stones can be changed out, and that a store the size of Brown & Co probably has loose stones on site. The girl told me "this is all they had." Meanwhile, at the watch counter, another employee told my husband that this was not true at all, that they had many loose stones available, and just to ask for (I won't mention the name here) to help us. So, we did. But, we were told that "this person" was working on something else that day and would not appreciate it if we bugged her. Very rude. We were astonished. We're not snobby people and don't expect to be waited on hand & foot. But we were considering at $10k ring for purchase and would have appreciated an educated and well-mannered employee to help us out. I would not shop here, there are many other fine jewelers in the city who would be happy to have our business and yours.
