I found this vet to be appallingly perfunctory, rushed, uncaring, uncommunicative, and to top it off expensive, and the staff disorganized. I thought this before my pet later got sick and died, and when that happened I wondered if a more careful, attentive examination at this vet could have resulted in a discovery of my pet's serious illness. Consider this a very strong non-recommendation for this practice, and my opinion is shared by friends in the neighborhood. Inexcusable.

when I first got my biewer Yorkie I brought her to butler creek and she saw a vet that left. No good vet stay there. We are back to the original vet, thank God I found him since Dr. Shell and his staff nearly killed my dog. She was born with liver disease, and knowing this he insisted she go on trifexis. She was throwing up after receiving the medicine. The staff never documented all of the times she threw up, she was lethargic and was on the wrong dog food. After two years of an extremely ill dog I did my own research and took her off trifexis. Then they gave me the wrong dose of frontline and she got a chemical burn. The office staff blamed me when they should've checked the dosage they dispensed. The damage was done to the liver...and she ended up at the hospital with pancreatitis. She now sees her original vet someplace else and but she is chronically ill..on medicine every day, on hills science diet liver disease food. The office staff, the girls at the desk, are dumb, slow, and offer medical advice without a vet degree. This place should be shut down. And is run by cedarcrest hospital.

We took our lab mix to see them due to vomiting and diarrhea. They were quick to jump straight to surgery based on there "confidence" that she had swallowed something. They also claimed they saw a piece of fabric in the X-ray. Hit with a $1600 bill for the surgery which I signed based on there "confidence". They didn't find anything. Next day after no improvement, hit with another $300. We asked for a discount on the $300 since we just spent $1600 and they still had no idea what was wrong and they denied the request. I stupidly agreed and the next day, my dog is still sick as I type this. I asked what was the official diagnosis and they just danced around the question. I only took her to Butler Creek because her regular vet didn't have an opening. Lesson learned.

Yes, my dog is alive and I am grateful for that, however the total bill came out to around 2900 dollars for 4 days. I was told initially it would avg. $400 a day. Which I couldnt even afford, as I am a new business owner. After asking several family members my brother agreed to run his credit for the care credit card. He was approved for $2500. My wife gave them specific instructions to not go over $1500 and to call us for approval if over that amount. We received a call on day 4 saying that we were tapped out. Then a few hours later by some miracle a woman at the vet donated $400 to cover the 4th day. Also the lady that we bought the dog from called and donated $50. So after all this I went to pick up my dog Atlas, I was told I owed upfront $55 which is fine, when I asked the total cost of the visit it totaled over $3000 dollars. The lack of responsibility at this vet is incredible they simply pass the torch to each other until YOUR all fizzled out. They knew credit wise what we were approved for and simply took us for it all. I only made this review, because I feel helpless to do anything else and I would want someone to have warned me. I have a wife and 2 children. We live on a budget like most, $400 a day was expensive, but everyday cost more than that. No surgery, no blood transfusions and no way to account for all the charges. Be warned- this place will drain your wallet, words are meaningless. Money is all that matters here. 01-26-2016.

Instead of seeing animals as part of the family, they only see dollar signs. Mandatory $22 fecal tests with grooming? Ridiculous. They say the tests are mandatory for them to do the grooming, but they groom on Saturday and then call Monday with the results. By that time my dog is back at home, so obviously the results have no bearing on whether or not my dog could be groomed. If you love to be nickeled and dimed - this is the place for you!

I have been using this vet for many years and have also been very disappointed with the the past 3 years. They do keep pushing fecal test, shots and dental cleanings. My dog also got sick from the rabies shots in 2012 and 2013. They did say she would have to be pre-medicated before the shots from then on. My husband and I decided to play it safe and not subject her to illness by not getting rabies shots anymore. We had no issues with the rabies shots before 2012. They have become very expensive as well. I have found that I can get her heart worm test and prevention a lot cheaper from a low cost organization that comes to a local pet store twice a month! Her flea prevention is over the counter and I get that cheaper at my local grocery. Another reason to be disappointed. I took my dog in for a dental cleaning and they tried to push $200 worth of vaccinations on me. My dog has bad reactions to vaccines and it is in her file. Dental cleaning was way too expensive too. Close to $600.

I have taken my pets to Butler Creek for 3 years. The docs are the best I have every seen. Dr. Cohn is so caring and goes above and beyond in explaining everything and he really care about our pets. I recommend them to everyone. I could not be happier with how they take care of my cats and dog.

I cannot begin to sing high enough praises for BCAH. They took me on as a new client with a serious issue and squeezed me in at the last minute on a Saturday morning. My cat ended up requiring extensive periodontal surgery with a week of monitored after care. I received this news the day before I would be out of town on business for a week. Dr. Cohn performed the surgery the following Monday and kept me updated DAILY via phone, email and even emailed photos to put me at ease. I was beyond appreciative and pleasantly surprised. My pet was difficult post surgery and the staff and Dr Cohn gave him the extra care required to make him comfortable and decreasing his stress. When I picked him up there was a thorough discharge consultation which I appreciated. "Oskar" fully recovered and is happily back home. Five stars for Butler Creek!

After taking my pet to another vet today, she's gained 2 pounds in fluid, didn't have this problem before Butler Creek, heaving breathing, coughing, stomach swelling, sleeping a lot. Butler Creek was pushing me to spay her VERY HARD! They were trying to schedule a spaying before ever seeing her. The new vet requested her records and till haven't received them - UNPROFESSIONAL. I pray this Vet can help my pet in time.

I have been using Butler Creek for 6 years. They are the greatest. Up front staff is super friendly. Doctors are thorough and professional. Prices are reasonable (I checked the competition). Would never use anyone else anyway. I have always felt I got excellent value and service for my dollar.

My dog has just under gone surgery here that we were told 1,200 MAX to remove a blockage in her stomach. Then they started nickel and diming, 2,000+ dollars later for all sorts of mis. charges my dog is still sick. If you bring you dog here make sure you are not in any way consered with money because the will suck you for every thing they can. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT IN HERE AGAIN AFTER THIS! Seriously considering consulting my attourney.

I absolutely love Butler Creek Animal Hospital. They strive to do what they can for you and your pets, and always have you and your pets best interest in mind! Since I have lived here in GA. I have taken all my animals to Butler Creek and wouldn't prefer it any other way

My chihuahua has been a patient at Butler Creek Animal hospital for about 2-3 years and has always received exceptional care. The staff is very friendly and personable. Since my chihuahua is such a small dog, the staff always makes him feel comfortable and welcome as soon as he walks through the door! After my chihuahua's check up the vet said he would give me a call to check on his status. Sure enough he called on time and provided us with the information we were waiting for. We heart Butler Creek Animal Hospital!

Butler Creek Animal Hospital is always clean and the staff is great. Everyone is very knowledgeable and compassionate. My dog loves going to the vet because the girls in the front always make him feel so special. Highly recommended!!!

moved here and needed a local vet. was hesitant to leave old vet. Dr shell is wonderful. he is in tune with my dog and her personality and truly cares. The crowning issue, he puts up with my over protective and neurotic ways when it comes to my dog. What can I say I adore my little dog and he knows and respects that. I would highly recommend him. The tech though is also wonderful. The front office does leave a little to be desired. It seems short staffed and the girls do sometimes leave you standing there without any acknowledgement. They are friendly when you do get your turn. Bring your little loved one here, Dr Shell is really the best, getting to know you and your pet for the best care possible.
