Avoid Michael Staley at all costs...typical sales person who does not stand behind their work once they receive their money. Deck squeaks all over when you walk on it. I called and emailed several times and all they do is make excuses...they can't even send someone out to look at it. I spent over $20K and this is what I get. Company does not stand behind their products and wants nothing to do with you once they complete the job. The only time the deck does not squeak is after it rains. I now have a deck I cant enjoy because of the noise it makes when you walk on it.

JJ, I am far from a typical sales person. You called me about your deck squeaking and we discussed it thoroughly or than once. It is the natural tendency of wood to change with the weather as we discussed. The only thing that you can do about it is tighten up all the fasteners on a deck when it does it as we discussed. It is the same reason that floor boards squeak, cabinet doors might not close the same in one season as it does in another, a door might not latch, and in many other cases with outdoor carpentry, something moves or changes in time. I never told you that I wouldn't com take a look at it, I simply told you that the only ting that can be done is for us to perform the service of tightening al the fasteners and that we would charge for the service as it is specified in our contract that we do not warranty for the natural tendencies of wood. Many companies do, and w have discussed it thoroughly on many occasions over the last 26 years but we simply don't. We gladly warranty anything that is covered and in your case it is not covered. I have a squeaky deck at my house some of the year too but it isn't because something was done wrong. I have had the squeaky deck conversation with only a couple of customers over the years one of whom was recently and he elected to have us come tighten all the fasteners which he paid us about $150 for and I followed up with him to discuss with you in mind and he was very clear in that he understood why we didn't warranty the issue and was happy with the result of the follow up service. Your description of not getting follow up from me is extremely inaccurate as I reply to every email and I return every phone call. And I will gladly talk to you about it and come take a look at it myself any time you like.
We had significant landscape drainage problems other firms did not address. C&M "listened" to our concerns, designed a solution, scheduled the work, did not try to sell us unnecessary plantings but instead incorporated existing plantings into the plan, then supervised and installed the complete job. Great experience from start to finish. We are very satisfied and would hire C&M again.

Thanks for posting about your positive experience. Drainage is the most important part and a part of every thing that we do. So may contractors inadequately address drainage because it is not what customers really want to spend money on. So often we are asked to repair drainage issues among 10s of thousands of dollars already spent with other contractors and we fortunately have many long term relationships with customers that started by having s solve their drainage issues.
Thank You again
We had a large sinkhole forming in our side yard and I contacted C&M to give me an estimate to fix. Michael Staley spoke to me extensively on the phone before he even came out to view it. Even though there was a consultation fee, I had him come out. I'm sure glad that I did. Because of the consult fee, I felt very confident that Michael was doing just that - consulting with us over the issue, not trying to sell us some services. It was worth every penny and in return, we received a great education and peace of mind. I will be sure and contact them in the future if I ever need any work done.

I really appreciate you posting about the positive experience with a paid consultation fee. We specialize in "Sink Holes" and have taken them seriously for a couple decades whereas many other firms simply don't understand the nature of them. About 85% of the "Sink Hole" calls that we receive are about buried debris pits which at very expensive to resolve properly. 15% of the calls however are a result of things like Old hand dug Wells, sanitary sewer pipe issues, tree stumps, trench failure and general soil failures all of which people just don't know much about. We excel at identifying the cause of "Sink Holes" and helping customers understand the whys and whens of how to monitor and repair these unfortunate circumstances.
We used C&M to take care of 2 sinkholes, landscaping our back yard, taking down an old deck and building a new bigger deck with cable railing. They did a wonderful job on everything and did exactly what they said they were going to do. Their workers were very professional, competent, and friendly and we would certainly use them again. We give them an A+.

Pat, thanks so much for your positive review of our services. Your project and the outcome was a great example of what we are all about taking something that was falling apart and turning it into something you use and enjoy as often as you get a chance.
I contacted C&M to provide an estimate for bamboo and vine removal to the left of our garage. C&M completed the work, hauled away the debris and made our yard look so much better! My husband and I were so impressed with their work, that we signed on for regular lawn maintenance! C&M is a great company with super helpful, courteous employees!

Thanks so much for posting a positive review. We are always happy doing the work and hope to have happy customers.
I called because of a large hole forming in my front yard. Michael asked me a bunch of questions and figured out over the phone and email that the problem was with the city sewer line that runs under my yard. He spent all kinds of time helping me figure out I didn't need to hire them. He was patient and friendly.

Thanks for taking the time to post a positive review about your experience. I have about 600 conversations a year about "sink holes" and after a couple decades of such conversations have developed a good sense of things. You would be surprised how many sanitary sewer issues turn into "Sink holes" and I can always figure it out on the phone and it is always a case where the local municipality should be called first.
Did a lot of research trying to find a company that thad a lot of experience with removing pools and found C&M. They answered all my questions and took time to look at all areas of the yard and driveway that would be affected by the traffic and weight of the dump trucks. We totally removed the pool, including all the concrete and plumbing, filled it in, and covered the area with sod. I really like that they stamp the dirt down with a special piece of machinery, so that there is much less chance of settling. They took care not to damage any existing landscaping and they cleaned everything up, so you'd never know they'd been there. I felt they were very honest in providing an estimate and identifying areas where the cost could change once they got into it and they better understood what they were dealing with. They really do have a lot of experience removing pools (which they consider as sinkholes). I'd heard war stories of pool removals turning into nightmares as area around the pools collapsed, serious settling occurred when the fill dirt wasn't compacted correctly, damage to landscaping and driveways from the dump trucks, etc. C&M's experience and professionalism made this a stressless experience for me. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to remove pool and I will use them in the future for other projects.

Hired C&M Residential to build an arbor/pergola on our existing deck. Michael Staley came out on a few occasions to hear what we wanted and provided lots of great information. He came back with a few options and proposals. Michael provided an estimate, not a solid quote, but I was pleased that the final price came in less than $100 off from his quote. The arbor turned out even better than we hoped and it looks great. We plan to have them back for additional work later this year. Definitely recommend C&M for any outdoor work you need done.

Michael Staley, of C&M, is extremely thorough and conscientious. We had a builder's pit in our front yard that was effecting our front porch. Not only did he listen to what we wanted but also presented his ideas. He laid out a plan (pit, porch, lawn, irrigation, sidewalk) and deviated only when necessary. The team that worked the pit pulled out some 20 - 25 tree trunks/root systems. They filled the hole back up using a trench compactor. The carpenters, upon discovery and it was obvious, told us the porch was not correctly attached to the house. It could not simply be raised back into position. It had to be removed and a new one constructed. We thoroughly concurred. Each stage of the project was billed separately and payment was made when completely satisfied. The patience and meticulous nature of each team was evident in how they approached their job. And when it became necessary for any one team to come back for "adjustment/tweaking" there was no hesitation. We had a lot done, but in the end we are completely satisfied, our curb appeal increased 100% and we will be using them again.

We chose C&M to replace our original driveway and walkway mainly because their bidding process went beyond the driveway/walkway to point out the need for storm water drainage at the driveway and the foundation. The original driveway had become a roller coaster caused by many years of existing next to a very large bull pine. After the tree was taken out, C&M corrected the drainage problems, replaced the driveway and walkway, planted lovely shrubs, and the results are very satisfying. Each team that came out was very efficient. We highly recommend C&M!

Have used C&M for various projects throughout the past 1.5 years. Have, on occasion, foolishly tried other providers to save a couple of bucks, but always end up coming back to C&M whenever I need it done right. Very professional!

We've used C&M for many years to take care of both large scale and smaller landscape projects. They built 2 large and attractive retaining walls on difficult terrain that will probably last longer than the house. C&M workers are always skilled, reliable and very hard working guys. We get good advice from Mike, detailed estimates and a thorough explanation of all the factors in each job. We're happy to recommend C&M for stonework, planting and yard care.
We have used C&M Landscape 3 different times following a neighbor's recomendation and the results have results have always been above expectations. We have had a pool removed and the backyard relandscaped, the front yard repaired and a drainage problem solved. They have done an outstanding job and I highly recommend them
