Slow and Constantly Disconnects, 5/09/2012

Title says it all. My internet gets about 1 mbps for downloads (they promised an average of 3-5!) and an upload speed of 0.06 mbps! These people are engaged in dishonest advertising and stealing... from their customers. PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN PERIL. And if any of you want to sue them, let's do a class action. Ilost my internet connection 3 times while typing this.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM CLEAR!, 8/10/2011

Unless you like speeds SLOWER than dial-up, I suggest you stay far away from Clear! Check out more recent reviews than 2010. I have had Clear since 2009, and I was very happy in the beginning. For... the past 9 months, however, my speeds have slowed to a crawl - sometimes I can't even load a simple Google webpage! They have admitted to me both on the phone AND in writing that they throttle customers who watch videos (such as Netflix and YouTube) or use Skype - even if you are like me and only use it once a week or less! They have signed up too many customers for their network to handle and this is how they control it now, rather than expanding their network. I live within 1/4 mile of SIX towers and can't get decent service! They claim to sell you "unlimited" service - but that is a complete LIE! It is so NOT worth the few dollars you may save, considering you probably won't be able to use the internet anyway. Even Comcast is better than this service. Stay away!!!

Sales Rep. and Customer Service Stink

I signed up for clear about a 1 ago, I wanted to use them because I was living in a basement apartment that already had comcast and but would not reach into our apartment. I knew that I was going to be moving, I asked the salesmen if a would be charged to cancel if I was moving out of the service area. He said NO. So we have now bought our first home out of the service area. I call on Saturday and talked to a rep. and he says that since I am moving out of the service area and our bill is cycle is over on Thursday. (Could not do it Saturday because they do not take cancels on Saturdays) If we call Monday that we should not be charged. So, today is Monday and I call and cancel the service and I am being charged a $80.00 Restocking fee because I am moving out of the service area. So, the service is okay but they do charge to cancel your contact even if you are moving out there service area. I was told by two diffrent reps. from clear no charge to cancel and now I am being charged. Also, my call got dropped in the middle of the cancelation and I had to call them back. Intead of the them calling me and explian to two more people my situation and if I had not called back I would have never knew I was going to be charged because the person just noted the account that the call was dropped and the restocking fee was not explained. As far as the service is it okay. I would not use it again. comcast and At&T is better and faster, it lags a lot and takes forever to start.
