Childish Leadership, 10/31/2010

Letter to CYSA board: What a great season it could have been. My U12 daughter's season began with the usual high hopes for a fun season with a new coach. She tried out for the Odyssey U12 White... team and probably made the team. Due to the low turnout, the team morphed into the Odyssey U12 Division III team. At the time it didn't seem to matter. We started the practices thinking everything was going just fine. Coach had the team working and improving. The girls were having fun. After practicing for 3 months the parents had a meeting with Odyssey. Turns out we don't have a league. Turns out nobody can scrimmage us. Turns out the coach hasn't been getting paid. Turns out you guys can't get along as well as the 11 year olds on our team. The end result, our team, and maybe others, are not ALLOWED to play in any league or in any tournaments unless we want to travel hours to another district. District VII and Odyssey can't play nice and get along. No doubt this has gone on for some years and other children and families have been burned by your silly turf wars. Very sad. The girls stayed together because coach had formed them into a TEAM. Remember TEAM? Together Everyone Achieves More? We wanted to stick together and make the best of it. But because of childish 'adults' that need to have their way, the kids are left out. And the timing of your actions was meant to inflict harm. There's more but this is enough...
