The Best for Your Best Friend
If you truly love and care for the mental, physical and emotional well-being of your dog, you will take your dog to Canine Happy Hours. Our dog is cared and loved at Canine Happy Hours. We have brought our dog to Canine Happy Hours for years now upon referral by a close friend, and we trust our dog with Canine Happy Hours completely. We get updates and pictures of our dog and she gets constant attention and love and loads of supervised running and play with other dogs. We drive over an hour to take our dog to be taken care of by Canine Happy Hours and we will never take her anywhere else. Canine Happy Hours is the BEST.

The Best Dog Sitter Around
I have used Canine Happy Hours several times in two years.Every visit has been 3 or 4 days.I can rest assured knowing that "Sammie", our red heeler mix, will be well taken care of.Sammie gets excited when we arrive at Jessie's home and can't wait to start playing with her friends.I proudly recommend Canine Happy Hours to anyone needing a great sitter for their "best friend".

a TERRIBLE dog sitter
We had used the dog sitter a few times before and there was no problem. This time, I had emailed the dog sitter, letting her know our dog needed to wear an ecollar and take benedryl for her allergies. I was assured this was not a problem. When I picked up my dog after a long holiday weekend, mind you without ever receiving a phone callher face was swollen three times larger than usual and she was distraught. I took her to the vet that afternoon, to find out she had heat stroke and a temperautre of 106. I paid to have her stay over night in the emergency clinic, so she could be monitored and receive iv for the next few days. After spending almost a thousand dollars (on top of the weekend cost of a dog sitter), I asked for "Canine Happy Hour" to help me with ONLY the cost of my dog's medicine I have not heard from her since two months later. I emailed and left voicemails NOTHING! So, I SURELY would NOT trust my dog with this dog sitter again!...

The Benadryl was administered according to the instructions given by Josey’s parents. It is part of our practice to give oral medications and supplements to our guest dogs at no additional fee. We have cared for and administered medications to dogs with Cushing’s disease, seizure, allergies, bladder infections, heart problems, kidney complications, and even cancer.
In Josey’s case, however, obviously over the counter Benadryl alone was not effective enough to stop the skin infection (hot spot) and prevent the spread of the infection especially treating a heat sensitive breed like an English Bull Dog. We strongly believe that if antibiotics were given to treat the infection, this skin infection induced episode would have been completely avoided.
We have had many guest dogs staying with us during the 4th of July holiday weekend. All our other clients will testify that all their dogs were healthy and happy. Base on the facts that Josey had the skin infection prior to the boarding, and the Benadryl alone was not adequate to treat the problem, asking Canine Happy Hours to pay for Josey's medical expense simply did not “smell” right to us. We do not believe any dog boarding facilities can guarantee that an existing health related issue will not get worse when a dog is boarded, especially when it seems clear that the proper medications have not been made available to a dog.
This incident came to our attention by surprise and disappointment, as over the years we have had very strong foundation with all our clients and dogs. And our special bond, through our beloved furry friends, has been built upon mutual respect, common sense and mutual understanding. Most people/clients had no knowledge that we had offered free boarding to our regular clients who had emergencies situations such as death of an immediate family; we had offered free boarding to regular clients who were fostering a dog; we had offered long term dog boarding at no charge for our regular clients who needed to receive cancer treatment and was not able to care for their dogs.
We had great sympathy towards Josey for this incident, and were happy to learn of her complete and swift recovery when we followed up.
We did update Josey's parents that the Benadryl did not seem to work. The following email was an update sent by Jessie during Josey's stay which informed her parents of Josey's worsening skin condition. Jessie also attached Josey's pictures taken during her stay in that email as always every time she was a guest at Canine Happy Hours.
HI, Amanda,
I am thinking Josey’s skin condition is more than just allergy. It is getting worse despite of the Benadryl. And I have not observed that she scratched the area the entire time she was here. I think she needs to see her doc to better identify the problem.
As always, she is great. I attached the pix and invoice. Thanks, Jessie

She goes above and beyond
Within the first few hours after having dropped off our dog, Bella, Jesse noticed that she was showing signs of an infection. Jesse took Bella to our vet, kept in contact with me about the lab results and started administering the medication. Jesse treated our pet like one of her own and we trust her to take excellent care of Bella.

My Dog Had a Great Time
Jesse watched my Marty while I was out of town a while back. It was obvious Marty had a really good time while there, he was very happy and relaxed when I picked him up. Jesse seems to really care about the pups and wants to make sure they enjoy their stays. Marty is usually very upset when I am not around, but he did better at Canine Happy Hours than he has done anywhere else I have boarded him.
