When we rescued Frieda off the streets of Tucker 18 months ago, I had no idea how challenging our life would become. The sweet fuzzy puppy started out as reactive to dogs, and then she quickly developed paralyzing fear and reactivity towards people, children, dogs and anything else that was outside of the four walls of our house. She would totally shut down when took her out of a familiar environment. Our neighbors were convinced that she was going to break out of the house and attack everyone. Another dog trainer witnessed Frieda's behavior and sent me to Meredith. Frieda and I have had multiple private lessons and classes, from those designed specifically for "dogs with issues" to K9 Nosework. When the usual reactive dog class wasn't helping Frieda ( you know your dog REALLY has problems when she can't handle the class designed for dogs with those problems), Meredith worked with us to find positive tools & techniques that would help. She knows an incredible amount about doggy behavior, and she has patiently worked with me and the rest of my family to help us train Frieda. Frieda is now able to enjoy hiking with me, and she can handle the sudden appearance of off leash dogs without a complete meltdown. She excels at our K9Nosework classes, and she is able to work even when she knows other dogs are around. Frieda has blossomed under Meredith and the other trainers at Canine PhD. We highly recommend them!

Our schnauzer Parker had both dog and people fear issues. After the reactive dog class her people issues are far less than they were before! We are still working with her every day and rewarding good behavior but without the class as a baseline we would be lost. I will recommend her to all my friends, in fact I already have!

My experience with Canine PhD has been amazing. Meredith is a wonderful person and trainer that really dedicates herself to animal welfare, strengthening the bond between animals and their humans, and teaching people how to communicate. Training classes are positive for the dogs and for the people--both gain confidence and mutual respect through her guidance. My experience with Betty has also been wonderful. The dogs love her and the people do too. She takes her time with the pets and is patient with us people as well. I have met Richard once, and he was able to give me helpful pointers on things I could do at home that were beneficial to the dog I was working with. All around an amazing group of people who will truely care about your pet, you, and the relationship you mold together. They explore new and positive training methods and are always eager to learn and improve. This is the first training facility I have been to where I felt completely secure and confident that I was doing the right work with the dog I love. I know all the courses would be great, but I personally recommend the reactive dog class for those of you who have found yourself a little over your head!

Meredith runs the best and most effective dog training program in Atlanta! I have a rescue GSP who had an unknown past, and as a result was reactive under certain circumstances. After several ineffective trainers, Meredith managed to get me and my boy properly "trained" to the point where he is a changed dog - happy, confident, and trusting. He came such a long way - it took some work, but Meredith showed us the way! She also is constantly improving and expanding her knowledge of best practices (one of the few trainers I know that does so) and is well respected in the dog and cat world. Plus she seems to really love the dogs!! And the love her! We've done a number of other fun courses with Meredith including Nose Work and a MUST DO Canine CSI course, where you and your dog get to "solve" a crime. Incredibly well organized, and thought out, this course will likely be one of the most fun and memorable experience you can have with your dog!! I've sent friends with reactive dogs to Meredith as well, and they have all had radically positive transformations. Can't recommend her any more highly!

When my great dane puppy turned one years old, she went from adorable to challenging and at 130 pounds, I rarely won a battle. Meredith helped us to understand each other and now my dog and I are best friends again.

The K9Phd training staff have been fantastic making it fun & easy to be succesful with my goals for my dogs. The transformation of their behavior has been nothing less than stellar, feeling like a permanent fix for out of control behavior. After a long day as a Pet Sitter, animal lover it is nice to come home to grounded, secure well behaved dogs. I highly recommend K9Phd & have clients that are thrilled with them!

Canine PhD has been great for my dogs. The difference between Canine PhD and other trainers is that not only can they train dogs they can communicate well with owners to teach them to work with their own dogs. My dog developed reactivity towards other dogs. After one private lesson I was able to feel that I could work with my dog to be able to walk past other dogs safely. We're in the reactive dog class now and I am seeing immediate improvement and hoping that we can eventually work through her issues with Meredith's help.

I foster challenging dogs for a local rescue. I have worked with many trainers over the years, both good and not so good. Meredith and I have worked with several difficult dogs over the past few years. Her insight and professionalism are without compare. She is able to evaluate and develop a training plan For dogs that otherwise might never find a permanent home. Her efforts have helped me rehabilitate many dogs and find them their forever homes.

Meredith's training techniques were the only techniques that worked with my reactive dog and I tried EVERYTHING-other trainers, books, videos, etc. etc. Nothing made a dent in my dog's fearful behavior. My dog is afraid of people, other dogs and is territorial which is quite an anxious combination. Meredith taught me essential skills to reduce my dog's anxiety and help her go on walks, deal with noises and check in with me when strangers were close by. I am so impressed by the improvement I saw in a few short months. I can't thank Meredith enough and I look forward to taking her next Reactive Dog class.

It helps people as well! Canine Ph.D has not only helped me with my dogs. Meredith Minkin has assisted and supported me through the years toward the realization of my goal to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed. With her guidance, I have made the long journey from being a desperate client struggling with a challenging puppy (who is now 6) to becoming a dog training professional myself who can help others. As I took classes and had private lessons, I became fascinated with the way dogs think and learn as well as with the training process itself. From learning to train and to modify behavior issues in my own dogs, my journey has taken me through volunteer work at shelters, shadowing numerous classes and private lessons at Canine Ph.D, taking amazing workshops from renowned trainers co-hosted by Canine Ph.D, graduating CATCH Canine Trainers Academy under the mentorship of Meredith, to helping dogs and their humans by having my own business, and finally, to becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed. Years ago, Meredith would always remind me when things were particularly challenging with my dog: "You need to be your dog's rock". To Meredith and those at Canine Ph.D (most especially Betty), I say: "THANK YOU" because you all were and are my "rock" At Canine Ph.D, they do not only help dogs ( A LOT); they help people, too (A LOT). Extraordinary trainers! Quality human beings! Education for a life-tim

We hired Canine PhD to help with our dogs excessive barking. After just 2 visits the barking had lessened substantially and we couldn't believe how well they were responding to us! We haven't had to use our 3rd session yet because they have been awesome!

Ginger has come a long way since we adopted her as a "shut down" dog. She was scared of most everything (except other animals) and was too afraid to eat in the presence of humans. We cannot thank Meredith and Canine PhD enough for all they have done for us! Meredith taught us how to work with Ginger to gain her trust and increase her confidence. We started with puppy classes (even though Ginger was an adult) so Ginger would get to play with puppies. Over time we advanced into manners, agility, rally, and nosework classes. With guidance from Meredith and lots of patience and time, Ginger has not only surpassed our goal for her to feel safe and to enjoy life, but Ginger has transformed into a successful sports competitor with a Versatility Excellent Certificate, awarded to poodles who earn accomplishments in multiple areas of achievement. Ginger is still, and will always be, an "emotionally damaged" dog, but with Meredith's expert help and support, we have learned how to help Ginger cope AND to have loads of fun!

Meredith's focus is not just on the dogs, but also educating the owners on how to properly understand their dog's actions and what you can do to reinforce positive behavior. This way you can continue the training everyday. The reactive dog class has been wonderful and I no longer have the worst dog in the world :)

I have a "reactive dog." Meredith has worked wonders with her! What a great experience! Swoozie is triggered by any sudden change in her environment, especially people. When she encounters a human, she barks and lunges, and acts like she wants to bite. Before I met Meredith, I was afraid I would have to simply isolate my dog and just keep her away from all potential stressful situations. No walks, no dog parks, no interaction with anyone but me. Meredith has given us hope. She has taught Swoozie how to relax, and has taught me how to handle Swoozie. I highly recommend Meredith and Canine Ph.D.
