I have 2 Carmax cars, both bought 2 months apart in 2008 - a 2004 PT Cruiser from Kennesaw, & a 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible from Southlake. I bought the complete warranty on both. I took them both to Carmax of Roswell for Service. Within the first 60 days, but AFTER the 30 day free warranty was over, each car had problems. The '05 had no AC due to a bad condenser, & then lost all it's ps fluid from a cracked pump. The '04 had electrical & front end problems. Repairs on the '05 WOULD have cost $800, & the '04 would have been $700, but I paid only $50 on the '05 and they waived the warranty co-pay as a courtesy (Way to go, Steve!) on the '04 so on these two issues, I paid $50! Carmax indeed does have SUPERB customer care (Free COFFEE! From STARBUCKS!), & they WILL buy your tired old junk from you, no questions asked; & they'll put you in a shiny new ride for a competitive, no haggle price, but this is STILL a USED CAR DEALERSHIP, & buying used cars is ALWAYS a potentially risky proposition. I buy the the add-on warranty because I can afford it, & I do not want to worry about unexpected repairs. Despite normal maintenance, parts wear out. Whether its a fleet car, a new car trade-in, my Uncle Slappy, or YOU, anyone getting ready to ditch a car stops putting any more money into it. That is why, if you don't want to spring for the warranty, get your own mechanic to go over your used Carmax car within the 1st 30 days after you buy it! Major purchase? CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I bought my car there about a year ago and I had to bring it back for 2 issues (Lighter didn't work and Air Bag Light). Both times the service team was more then helpful and never promised anything they couldn't deliver. I love my car and I still bring my car there for routine services and check ups.

Carmax gives you a ridiculously low amount of money for a trade in. You would be better keeping it. They wanted to give us $1000 for our car and 5 years later we sold it for $5000. It is a complete rip off.

So I bought an SUV here after hearing many good things about Carmax. 20K into the purchase my car's engine goes kaput due to oil pan sludge. I had changed the oil regularly and bought the extended warranty. They denied the claim because I had done the oil changes myself, ending up costing me $3000. They obviously didn't look in the oil pan during their "thourough" inspection. I'll never buy a car from Carmax again.

Be ware of the 120 point inspection they advertise on their website and in person. I purchased a 2000 Montero Sport from them last year, and within the first year I had to: * Replace the horn that never worked * Replace the power locks * Replace the broken antenna * Replace transmission fluids This was 1k in total costs which would have been find...however almost exactly one year later the bill came to: * Rebuilding the transmission (as their mechanics got the diagnosis incorrect the first go around at my expense) * Replace the right front suspension on the vehicle (shocks/etc...) * Fix a leaky seal * Fix a horn I had already had fixed the first time. All of this to the tunes of an additiona $5k they are requesting. Thus a 10k investment has cost me an additional 6k. They were not willing to make any compromise and felt it was totally ok to nail me with these costs. Bottom line someone screwed them with a trade in, which in turn they screwed me. Very shady dealership!

I've purchased three vehicles from Carmax through the years, however, recently when I stopped in to browse, I found the atmosphere had changed. The sales people didn't seem interested in assisting me nor were they very knowledgeable about much of anything. I left feeling like I totally wasted my time. This used to be such an upbeat, efficient dealership where you could go in, find what what you want and make a purchase with ease and enthusiasm. Very sad. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

In the first month of owning the car that I purchased from carmax I had to have the warped front rotors replaced, the airconditioning motor replaced, a tire replaced, a valve stem replaced, a valve stem tightened, and a windshield washer hose reconnected. This car was supposed to have been inspected bumper to bumper. I still have the signed card that says that it was. However, it still cost me 4 trips back to carmax and many hours in their waiting room. Their garage is NOT fast. I will be buying a second car within the next six months and it will not be from carmax.

Purchased a Honda Odyssey from this carmax. No pressure, answered all of my questions and knew I had done my research beforehand. Cleaned the car up nicely. Only issue was a small screw being needed on the drivers seat. Different person told me to schedule a service appointment in 5 days but I said NO. Not when service shop is 5 feet away and it was written for them to do so before I took possession. But it didn't impact my rating. Just a momentary lapse of reasoning from someone. :-)

It was so nice, while shopping for a vehicle to not have 2 or 3 salespeople run up to you to try to get your business. Carmax is very organized and their employees are knowledgable. Best car buying experience yet!

I purchased my car from Carmax. It was a good value, and all the employees were helpful. Later I sold my old car to carmax for way more than what I expected. It was an overall good experience with friendly employees.

I was very pleased with buying my car from carmax. I called and they got me approved over the phone and all i had to do was go up there and pick out my car. They were very friendly and helpful and didn't put any pressure on me when trying to buy my car. I would definantly buy another car from them.

Great place for automotive repair. They have always called with a fair price before they fix it, usually come in under price and all repairs are fixed right the first time. I have recommended their service department to a number of people.
