Carolyn Kaplan, MD

I'm raising 3 healthy boys after being Dr. Kaplan's patient in 2001-2002. I had had two miscarriages (10 weeks and 12 weeks) as a healthy 29 year old and was diagnosed with a possible anticoagulant disorder. I saw Dr. Kaplan on my first visit and felt like I was heard even if my situation was different compared to others going through IVF. My challenge was staying pregnant. Dr. Kaplan immediately ordered specific bloodwork which no one had considered in the past and had me take heparin injections for the first 20 weeks of my next pregnancy. The pregnancy under her treatment resulted in a healthy boy. I had two more healthy boys, thanks to a heparin regimen during those pregnancies as well.

I am turning 40 this year and had more detailed blood work done recently; I was confirmed to have Factor V Leiden. I am just so grateful that I came to Dr. Kaplan when I did and that she took time to help me even after just 2 early miscarriages. I feel like I most likely would have suffered more miscarriages had I not sought her opinion. I don't wish the emotional tragedy of a miscarriage on anyone.

I have been going to GRS for almost 2 years and have completed 4 IUIs with Dr. Kaplan. I never saw her until it came time to do the IUIs. If I'm paying for a doctor, I should see the doctor not a different nurse every time. All 4 of my IUIs failed there because of the lack of communication between Dr. Kaplan and her nurses. The nurses seemed to care but not enough to simply read my chart and see they screwed up! They told me not once but twice to take my medications on the wrong days so two of the IUI cycles were totally useless. Why did they do this? Because all they wanted was the money from my insurance company when they could have said "oh, we made a mistake, lets not do the IUI this month and just wait until we can use our brains and give you the correct instructions" but NOOO they could care less. I have waited hours there when the procedures were supposed to take no more than 1.5 hours. I'm happy to be switching doctors in the near future and maybe my new doctor and his office staff can do things right since they are the specialist. If you're going to name your practice Georgia Reproductive SPECIALISTS then you need to know what you are doing and not waste everyone's time running around in circles getting nothing accomplished but mistakes!

Had my exam with Suzy and she is very nice. I rarely feel comfortable during these exams but I did with her. Saw Dr. Kaplan briefly but I don't necessarily feel I needed more time. In that time, she mostly spoke with Suzy but I did not feel ignored - just that they were taking care of what the next steps were for me. Only went for one visit but they really are very nice. I cannot comment on fertility treatment since I did not go that route in the end.

I went to this clinic. Like every one else I put my body and emotions in the care of total strangers. I thought I would be taken care of, since I had heard of great statistics for this clinic. Well if you can get past the attitudes of the front office, and the nose in the air nursing staff, then this is your clinic. I would not recommend Dr. Kaplan, she has absolutely the worse bed side manner. She's almost robotic in her non-emotional presence. The nurses seem friendly, but seem to talk about you to the every one else. I would deffinately have not wasted my time in this office. Had I had a chance to do it all again, I promise I wish I'd read what I am writting now, before hand.

I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Kaplan. She has been sensitive, kind, and gave me a lot of individual attention. We found out we were pregnant on our second visit and didn't need as much intervention as we were expecting. Dr. Kaplan has helped me to feel confident that I can carry the baby to term and I feel better knowing that she is looking out for me. I agree with other reviews, Suzy is Dr. Kaplan's right hand and she is very smart and sensitive. I've had a great experience with GRS.
