Good at the start, but needs to work on follow-ups, 3/10/2007

My rating may be a bit deceiving to those reading this for it is NOT as if CR did a horrific job. I was quite pleased with their initial progress on the job and happy with the project manager... assigned. My project was a renovation of a bathroom, 3 rooms painted, install of lights and tiling of a floor. Throughout, the manager informed me of next steps and what to expect. When they had a setback with flooding, they quickly repaired what had went wrong (for the most part). When they were gone, there was a problem with the same area which caused the flooding the first time. I called CR back and to this day, I have had 3 conversations with 3 different people with no one fixing my problem. I was quoted a start time to repair the problem at 7am,but the team could not come out at 7, so they pushed it back to 10. When 10 came, they did not show til after 11 and then immediately left to go find the part to fix the repair when what probably should have happened was a full assessment of the problem FIRST and then go to the home repair store to get the right part. They ended up going to the hardware store twice and by the second time they went, I had to leave to make an appointment. Since then, I have had one call with no one fixing my probelm. I ended up fixing the problem myself. It made me feel like I was valued when I had plenty of money, but when it came down to following up on open ended issues, I wasnt valued at all. Hence my giving them an average rating.

The way all contractors should work, 7/31/2006

When we purchased a home needing renovation, the original contractor we hired started out very well. When their quality declined, deadlines were missed and phone calls went unreturned, Carpenter's... Rule stepped in to finish all the details, on time and on budget. They clearly explained our options and costs every step of the way, including making design suggestions, many of which we adopted. We get compliments on their front porch redesign and custom back patio all the time. Most importantly, they were responsive and communicative so we never worried about the status of our projects. In a world where you get what you pay for, we are very pleased with both the results and the experience they provided. We will continue to use and recommend Carpenters Rule.

Fast, Efficient and Creative

We hired Carpenters Rule to build a new deck on my home. They were great. They didnt just build a beautiful deck they designed it too and solved a tricky problem about where to put the stairs. They were very efficient and professional and their work was awesome. Its created a beautiful addition to our home.

Carpenters Rule - experts in making excuses

I selected this company based on stated credentials & fair price. However, once into the job, workers didn't show up when they said they would, owners didn't either, no follow through, sloppy work, didn't finish on time - didn't finish at all. Had a tongue and groove porch installed. Left major gaps in between boards, used joist hangers too big for joist boards (so just bent them over to fit), installed some boards that were not t & g. stained floor with uneveness and numerous brushstrokes. 5 or 6 punch lists sent to company still did not rectify all the problems - too many to name here. Still cleaning up their mess. Had to hire another company to correct the mistakes & finish the job. Their past clients must have been Stevie Wonder and Helen Keller because there is no way anyone who could see this job would have been satisfied.

In seven years, this is the first customer we have been unable to please. Our client and work portfolio speaks for itself and we urge potential customers to review our library of work and to personally speak with previous customers.

Quality, Vallue and Trust

Quality construction stands the test of time. My initial business relationship with Carpenters Rule took place in 2002, when these professionals did considerable repair work to my decades-old house. Briefly, front porch, balustrade and steps were redesigned and replaced; screened porch was repaired and rescreened; and sundeck was completely removed, redesigned and replaced. Their work, which was beautiful then, still remains in top condition today. Further, my trust in their strength of character was well-deserved. Carpenters Rule performed most of the work in my home while I was away, caring for it as though it were their own. To a woman living alone, the peace of mind this brought was invaluable. I soon will be updating other areas of my house, and Carpenters Rule will definitely get the job. You cannot go wrong with these gentlemen.

Professional Company Worth Every Cent!!!

I hired Carpenters Rule to hand build a wood fence for our home and they did a fantastic job! Even when there were problems with the city, they hung in there and finished on budget while coming up with a beautiful design. They are professional, courteous, and do an amazing job. I referred them to my mother and they did a wonderful job for her as well! I recommend them to anyone who needs their services.
