I was diagnosed with Barrett's; which she didn't want to even do the test. I had to insist; because food gets stuck. I complained about it taking over a month to talk to her; after the test/biopsy. So she got mad & wouldn't do the CT scan she said I needed; because I made her mad. She stretched my esophagus too much several years prior & caused the problem in my opinion. She was rude this time and I will not return. I've been a patient for over 7 years. I have never been very impressed. She doesn't listen to the patient.

Short version: Doctor was unwilling to help refill my prescription knowing that without my medicine I would be in PAIN the entire weekend. This was no fault of my own but the doctor's office operations fault as they did not respond to the requests for refill from the pharmacy. Call with her started like this: Dr. Kelly (without announcing her name/position says):"Who is this, this is my private phone number". Me: "Hi my name is Josh, I just received a call from this number." Me: (Since she was so sharp I said) "Did you mean to call me?". Dr. Kelly: "This is Doctor Kelly Carson I'm apart of Metro Atlanta Gastro and yes a moment ago I called a patient of one of my co-workers however they did not answer the phone." Me: "Oh, yes I'm a patient of your co-worker." Dr. Kelly(disconcerting and loudly states): "Yes, I called and when a phone rings you are supposed to answer it." And the conversation did not getting any better from there. She could care less if you are in pain.

I went to visit Dr. Carson and despite the fact that I was having a terrible Crohn's flair and was in excruciating pain, she showed up an hour late for my procedure. Moreover, after the procedure, she marched in and was both incredibly cold and unnecessarily mean. After curtly telling me that there was nothing she could do, she actually got agitated with me as I tried to ask about any treatment option to ease some of the pain I was feeling. After about 3 minutes of ignoring everything I was saying, she said she didn't have time to discuss it and answered her phone and walked out. There are enough Gasto doc's in Atlanta that you don't need deal with someone as ugly as Dr. Carson.

Dr. Carson, and that is a stretch will not listen to the patient. She is so determined to prove your symptoms wrong that she cant hear you. It will be one of the most frustrating patient/doctor conversations you will have with her. After many tests and dollars, she advised to me to take over the counter medicine.

Overall I found Dr Carson to be polite on my initial visit but when my test results came back I did not receive a reassuring explanation and had to seek further advice. In addition, my initial consultation with Dr Carson was billed to my insurance as another service and not for the service I had come in for.

I love Dr. Carson. She is wonderful, sensitive, caring and fun. She performs procedures that are unpleasant and enbarassing for the patient and does it all with style and dignity. She had a wonderful nurse who has passed away and the jury is still out on her new assistant, I can't say I'm impressed so far. I would trust Dr. Carson with my life. She is a gem.

I have been sick with GI problems for over 5 months now. Dr Carson was fine at first and seemed very thorough, but when my diagnosis was not evident, she began to ignore my calls and write me off. More than once my calls have not been returned and when I asked her about several additional tests, she dismissed them as unecessary. Meanwhile, my symptoms are severe enough to keep me out of work. One plus-the staff in the endoscopy lab is WONDERFUL and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I've heard good things about Dr Weinstein, another member of the practice. My advice would be to try him.

She walked in the room and after saying hello, she said"Don't tell me it's gastroparesis. I didn't, my referring doctor only wanted to rule it out. She then proceeded to yawn through out the entire interview. And then rolled her eyes when I became concerned about having an endoscopy. A very rude doctor and the same goes for her staff.

Gastrointestinal problems are no picnic, but I lucky enough to find Dr. Carson at Metro Atlanta Gastroenterology. She has excellent bedside manner and was very professional and friendly. I needed two procedures which she performed herself, and the staff were courteous and kept me informed of lab results in a timely manner. I highly recommend Dr. Carson and her office!
