When I found out that I had skin cancer and needed surgery, all I could think of was OH NO.. My dermatologist explained the Mohs Method and referred me to Dr. Chastian. Needless to say, I was terrified. The staff from the first person I met to the last person who walked with me to the door was unbelievable in kindness, caring, and professionalism. I am 64 years old and I can tell when a staff is "tolerating" you or caring about you. Dr. Chastian and his staff truly cared about me and my feelings! To say that I never felt anything would be a lie - the ONLY thing I ever felt was the novacaine(or whatever was used to deaden the area)!! Any pain later on - I never had to take any pain reliever. I took some tylenol the night after surgery which I am really not if it was surgery related or a normal headache. About 2 hours after I got home, one of the staff called to see how I was doing. Wow! Would I send my family to him? Yes Yes Yes Yes!

I have been a patient of Dr. Chastain's since 2005 including three skin cancer surgeries. Each time I have been to this office, I could not ask for any better treatment from Dr. Chastain or his staff. Dr. Chastain always takes time with me and explains any surgical procedures to me before he begins. He is very thorough and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

The doctor does not close his surgical sites. This is always done by his PA (physician assistant). I was told this when I requested he close on the second surgery. The surgical coordinator did not call me two different times to schedule surgery when I was told she would. The office staff stopped mid sentence when answering my question to answer a question from another staffer. Two other office personel had very disrepectful attitudes.

Because a growth was growing from the bridge of my nose toward my eye, I "bit the bullet" and made an appointment with Dr. Chastain. He was cordial, efficient and highly skilled in removing it. Within a week, you couldn't even tell I had had extensive Moh's surgery on my face. I returned a few years later for a similar issue and received the same quality care with absolutely no scarring. Amazing! I feel blessed to have found this doctor and his staff.

I was taking my son in on occasion to see the physician's assistant for a variety of skin problems he has. On a follow up, I asked her about a new spot that had been growing on my nose. She quickly identified it as a problem and biopsied it - turned out to be basal cell skin cancer. Not surprising as both my parents have had skin cancer. I then had Mohs surgery by Dr Chastain to remove it. It's now been 6 months and you can hardly tell anything was done! I've had great results with this office.

Based on my experience, I wish that I had read the comments (which are very enlightening and validating) by MomMarietta, Showdog and GTMom2010. I only wish that I was aware of Kudzu.Com before I went to this Dermatology Practice.

Most of my family were patients here at one time or the other. This office made a mistake and called to work it would. They were the rudest, unprofessional staff i have ever experienced. When i left a message for Dr. Chastain to call me back he had another staff member call to tell us to find a new doctor. This was right in the middle of treatment for a skin problem. Nice treatment after years of being a loyal patient!

Dr. Chastain diagnosed my dad with an early melanoma. My dad's regular dermatologist missed diagnosing the spot on his cheek. My dad promptly went in for surgery. Dr. Chastain explained in great detail exactly what to expect with the surgery. They ended up having to suture my dad from the corner of his eye to his jawline but you can't even see where the original surgery was. There is no scar!!! Dr. Chastain is a fantastic surgeon and his staff was great!! I would highly recommend him if you have a loved one that has skin cancer or thinks that they might have skin cancer and wants the best possible care. I believe he was able to diagnose my dad because he specializes in skin cancer and my dad's regular dermatologist did not. I am greatful that my dad received the treatment he did and is fine today... he right to remove any posting that abuses the service. I had a very small spot/mole on my chest that ended up to be NOTHING! It was not nessecary to remove at all because it was obviously not the type of cancer that would cause any problems. They did not warn me of the scar it would leave or the pain I would be in over the last year. I can no longer wear a seat belt over my chest because of the extreme sensitivity I am experiencing. When I take a shower it hurts, or wear certain clothes that touch that area it is very painful. It has been 1 year since the surgery and the scar looks awful and the pain is still there. I now have a lump where there is scar tissue on my chest. I can't wear slightly low cut shirts or dresses. After going back to them numerous times to try and correct the damage they say there is nothing they can do except laser and steroids. They have not returned my calls. They also are now saying that almost all areas of the body usually leave a scar like this because of the location. I've heard a different story every time I've been in there. I would seriously consider getting a second opinion if they recommend surgery. There was also one nurse or aid that was so rude I can't even begin to tell you. I have an appointment with another doctor a year later to see if he can fix the damage, pain, and scar that I was left with at my own cost.

A family member used this dermatologist for surgery and deeply regreted it. He and his staff were unprofessional and non caring. The story is too long to go in to details, but I would not take a chance.
