My family and I visited the Chepe's located on Mathis Airport Pkwy last night, Friday, 8/10/12. And we had eight (8) people in our group, so we waited approximately 10-15 minutes for our table. The manager, Jose Pena, took us to a table past the bar, to a table that would usually fit 6 guests. So I told him that we needed a larger table as we have 8 people in our group. The table was 2 small tables pushed together to make a larger table. Around us, there was another smaller table (2-top) that was available so a server started to push the table over but Jose told him he could not do that. I asked to see the manager of the restaurant, and Jose stated that he's the manager. And I told him again that we needed a larger table as this table would not fit all 8 people in our group. He told us that we could fit and that they always seat parties of 8 into 2 small tables. I told him that we'd wait for another table or sit in 2 different tables. There was also a large booth next to us that could fit a group of 6. And at that time, his response was "you can sit at this table or you can leave." I asked him to show me were they've seated a party of 8 into 2 tables pushed together and he pointed to another group; so I walked over to that table and it was actually 3 table pushed together to make one table. So after having the RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL "manager" giving me an ultimatum of sitting at that table or leaving; we decided to leave the establishment.

We used to go to Chepe's every few weeks, then I became violently ill within 8-10 hours of eating there due to tainted guacamole and suspected salmonella exposure. The manager heard about the issue and offered for us to please come back and he would help, but I just cannot bring myself to go back there. I understand this was an isolated case and may have been corrected, but I would be careful about what you choose.

My husband and I are frequent customers here and love it every time. The food is amazing the staff is very kind. The only complaint I have is that the last time my husband and I came here I believe we had some undercooked shrimp in our fajitas so we did get a little food poisoning but I look forward to our next meal here.
