The food is yummy, and the service is perfect. By far the best restaurant on the southside. The prices are right on for the quality of food that you get. If you want a $5 lunch, go to McDonalds! The bakery is awesome too!

Great salads for lunch and what can you say about their desserts. The Goulash in the winter time is great. Service can be hit or miss, and the pay at the counter separately for the desserts is disruptive to the flow of a great meal. Did have the weirdest steak in my life there for dinner one time. It was supposed to be beef, but tasted bitter, like organ meat. Yuck. Everyone else's meal was good that night. Thank goodness for a generous hubby who shared. Can't miss for lunch though. Special occasion pricing.

A varied menu offers well prepared food. The different fish dinners are flavorful but do not detract from the fish. Desserts are generally good, but looks can be deceiving - choose wisely. The outside arbor area is really nice. Who would think downtown Fayetteville traffic could be interesting.

I can't say enough good things about the Cafe! The service is excellent and the food is always delicious! I love the atmosphere and the central location. I really like patronizing family owned local restaurants, verses large corporate chains...they try harder to please their customers! Thank you City Cafe & Bakery!

Nice decor, semi-friendly staff; however, the quality of their food and portion size is nothing but dissapointing. Their kiddie meals (ie chicken fingers) are 2-3 medium size tenders with potato chips. Other restaurants will give you a much bigger portion for the same price and my kids can usually not finish them. Here my kids get up still somewhat hungry. Food also takes quite a long time, no matter if you're there during the lunch/dinner rush or if it's slow. Last time I had the Jaeger Schnitzel. It was still somewhat tender, but the crust was just shy of being burnt. $15 for a burnt Schnitzel, only at City Cafe! The bakery is quite good though. So take my advice, run in to pick up some baked goods, but don't bother sitting down and ordering anything of the menu. I tried it four times and won't bother again!

The atmosphere is beautiful on the inside and out. The staff is nothing but people under 20 all are very rude and being younger myself I can say this. There will be 2-3 young people running from behind the counter and when you ask for something and dont understand them they act annoyed they have to repeat themselves. Other young staff members come out from he kitchen and eat and there will be about 6 employees eating together when you are trying to get help half of them I knew from fayette county high school and have seen their myspace so I know how they are in person and hardly any of these people should be the ones working at such a "must go to" restaurant in town. Especially when bringing friends and family to this place that have never been there, the first thing they want to do is see the wonderful selection of desserts but again the staff has a rude look on their face and tone of voice when you ask about more then 2 things. The prices for the desserts unlike the reviewer below me said are actualy wonderful. Hardly anywhere else in town can you get a huge gormet slice of cake for 3-4 and for the mousse filled treats, & other rare items the prices are really cheap if you were to compare them to chili's, applebees, johnny carinos, or ruby tuesdays desserts. I never come here for the food so have not seen their prices but over all for whole cheesecakes and personal size desserts the prices are great and the selection is great. I have had better choc cake from kroger tho.

We just recently discovered this charming cafe and bakery in downtown Fayetteville. The German entrees are surprisingly good. There is a wonderful bakery with all kinds of tempting treats for dessert or take home. Very delightful atmosphere. There's also patio dining during warm weather.
