Love this place! Unfortunately they don't have the dog food I need, but they do have everything else. Everyone who works here is super friendly and genuine which is always nice. My favorite place to bathe my pup! You have to do it yourself, and it costs around $18... but not having to clean up my apartment bathroom after a dog shower? Well worth it. They've got a huge selection of toys, treats, food and accessories. I'm a big fan!
Fun and friendly neighborhood store with a fabulous selection of foods and accessories!! From the second you walk in the door, you're greeted by a wonderful friendly staff who welcomes people AND their dogs!! A great place to bring the dog shopping!! Knowledgeable staff will give you personalized suggestions for your particular breed of dog. And it's always a pleasure to be greeted by the sweet rescue dog, Big Daddy, rescued by the owners. These people care about you and your dog!! And what a delightful place to shop!!
I heard some really good things about CDM before finally trying them out. I have been very into the holistic and nutrional side of things for more than half my life and feed my animals the same way I feed myself. Everything is nutrition based. I am sad to say that although my customer experience inside the store was pleasent enough, I did feel that the majority of the staff the few times I've been in there are lacking in proper food education and nutrition for animals. Not to mention how very over priced everything is!!! I know that most smaller chains like this may be on the higher end price wise, but i can get food for my dog and cat at Highland Pet Supply for much cheaper even though it is out of my way to go there. I think CDM just needs to research their products more and educate their staff better. Just because it's Buckhead doesn't mean you have to charge an arm and a leg! I do also agree about the staff hovering when trying to shop. Good customer service is always appreciated but if I need help I will merely come and ask for it. I wish my experience with them had been a little more positive but I'd rather spend the gas to go to the Highlands.
Pros: Clean, big store. Nice selection of quality products. Cons: Some staff hovers over you while you are trying to shop. How many times do I have to enter and hear "Have you been here before?" Prices seem higher than the competition on some items. Not entirely confident in some of the advice I received after doing my own research. On a side note, I think it's very important to supplement any advice with a good dose of online research.
I use to love this place. The owners were always there and treated customers like no where else in Atlanta. Lately when I go in they are not to be found and the staff there is clueless. I even heard a staff person lie to a customer and tell them that they are the only store in Atlanta that carried a certain brand food. Which was definetly far from th truth. I put up with there high prices because I liked the owners and brought my dog to Camp Woof before they sold the place. But no more. I will buy my food somewhere else.
I agree with the writer below that said that the owner had to write there own review. A few weeks ago I went to this store to pick up some special food for my moms dog who is allergic to almost everything on earth. I went to the store and they only had a few cans of this food. I was told that it was not available any longer. I told my mom and she freak out and started crying thinking her dog was gonna die because she could not get this food anymore. I called the company and they gave me the names of 2 other stores in Atlanta that sold this stuff. I went to a store in Norcross and they had plenty. They were at least 30 cents cheaper on a can and much nicer to deal with. They also told me that this stuff was availalbe and they could have as much as we needed.
I stopped by City Dog Market for the first time since moving to the area on Friday and was amazed, but not in a good way. The food I buy for $42.99 at a store on Highland was $7.00 more a bag. When I asked the woman working there why they were so much more expensive, she said we are a much higher end store and so charge more. Hey, dog food is dog food. I also brought my dog in for a bath until I found out it was $18.00. That is just ridiculous. This woman walked away from me like I had a disease. She coud not be bothered because I questioned if the price was correct. Beautiful store, ugly prices and employees.
First of all I usually NEVER give bad reviews but felt I needed to do so after the horrible service I received at CDM. The two butchy women who run and own the place should learn to give customers respect. The fact is that they know NOTHING about proper pet nutrition. Maybe they should invest some time and money in reading about it. The advice they gave me was all wrong and they advice I heard them give others was wrong as well. I've been involved with and have studied pet nutrition for well over 10 years now and these butchy girls need to learn about it NOW before they continue to give out bad advice that in the end will HARM dogs (and cats). They're opinionated, full of themselves, and what's funny is...they have no right to be...they truly are CLUELESS when it comes to nutrition. perhaps one can tell since it's clear they can't even take care of themselves. That speaks volumes in their knowledge abut nutrition in my book. If they don't care about themselves or respect their own bodies...why trust what they tell you about feeding your pet. They treated my dog with no respect and to be honest...I could care less about that. One would think that they would at least pat a dog standing next to them on the head and get this (gasp!)...give them a treat! The prices are not competitive at all. In fact they're VERY high. They will also not match prices. So do yourself a favor...if there is a food you are feeding and you're happy with...go somewhere else to buy it.
I am a frequent customer at CityDog Market, and have always had a fairly pleasant experience. Unfortunately, I saw a very unpleasant side of the staff when I stopped by the other day during a training run. I was about halfway through 9 miles, and decided to stop and ask if I could quickly use their restroom. I figured they would be nice enough to let me, since I am in there a decent amount. When I walked in, they greeted me like a long-lost friend, but when I asked to use the restroom, the staff member looked at me like I had six heads. She told me (very rudely), “the Chevron has nice bathrooms.” I said, oh yeah, aren’t they around the side of the gas station? She said (again, very rudely) “um, I don’t know.” REALLY?! After you just told me how nice they were? Wow, sounds like you spend a lot of time in there. She then gave me some BS about how they needed access to the laundry space that was inside the bathroom, and that’s why I couldn’t use it. It would have been one thing if they had nicely told me that they just don’t allow customers to use the restroom, but the snotty attitude they gave me, along with the blatant lie about the “nice” bathrooms at the gas station were insulting & disappointing. I am not a negative person, and in fact, this is the first negative review I have EVER given anyone. But I can assure you that I will not be back, and I would suggest that the owners work with the staff on their people skills.
Quite obvious that around 9/1 the owners were writing their own reviews. Notice how they're all 5 star reviews and the people never reviewed ANYTHING else here on Kudzu? That's a sure sign that the owners of the business are writing the reviews... and if they had a brain...they'd not cluster all the reviews around the same time. It's a nice store and they have it well laid out and carry a nice selection. Yet I can say that they no NOTHING about proper pet nutrition. If you know what you're looking for and have done your research, this might be the place for you. Just listing to the staff showed me how little they know about pet nutrition. They also don't discount anything like most small independent stores.
The staff are always super friendly and willing to help you out. As soon as I walk in the cheerfully greet me and offer to help me with my purchase. My wife has even gone to get something only to find that our daughter has fallen asleep in the car on the way there. A simple phone call to the store and they brought what she needed right out to the car and came back with a credit slip to sign. Great customer service.
I just stopped in a couple of weeks ago to find some food for my dog that has allergies. The owner quickly greeted us and shared her knowledge with us on all of the great foods they have to offer. I have to say, this is one of the best service experiences I've had in Atlanta. In addition to the great service, this place has SO many pet products. There's no reason to step into a big corporate pet store with a local gem like this around the corner.
If you need something for your dog, this is the place. The staff is so friendly and really takes the time to help you choose products and understand your dog's needs. It is obvious how much every staff member loves dogs too, from the moment they meet your dog to when you ask for help. Every time I go, I am greeted with a "welcome back." They may not know my name (just started going a couple months ago), but they at least remember my face and dog. Very hard to find that in Atlanta sometimes. The prices are pretty reasonable, and the quality of their products is superb. My favorite parts of the store: dog bakery, outfits/toys for football season, and all the stylish collars in the collars/leashes section
