I had a great experience with this company. They moved my property and I had no issues their team does follow up with you even after the move. One of their members of upper management Christian even reached out to me after my move to make sure everything went well. Clearly he keeps the team in line and I was thoroughly impressed.

Moved from PA to TX and was concerned about what type of care my belongings would receive. I was extremely pleased that I had chosen Colonial Van Lines for the move. This company was available to answer all my questions. The staff is friendly. The movers took care of my belongings from beginning to end and made sure that all boxes were secure and the items wrapped properly. This move went smooth and I was pleasantly surprised with the time frame for the move. They picked up my belongings on a Tuesday and arrived in TX on Friday afternoon. Nothing was broken or missing. I would recommend Colonial Van Lines to anyone who wants a hassle free move and the cost is reasonable. Anyone who is making a move use Colonial Van Lines. They are professional and caring and work with you on any problems that may arise.

CONSUMERS BE WARNED!!!!! CVL And CVL Relocation Division are brokers! STEER CLEAR!! The arrangements you spend weeks and multiple emails arranging in advance, CAN ALL fly out the window when your driver picks up. The driver will require you to SIGN, an additional written form, with a date on it. READ IT VERY, VERY CLOSELY, especially if you have a Power of Attorney there for you. This form, asks for "YOUR First Available Delivery Date". Do NOT be misled by any driver who says oh, we just have to have some sort of date on it. Just put it a few days out." Sounds ok, right, because the days are within your delivery timeframe. NO! NO!! NO!!! If you put this date on the form, and it differs from ALL the arrangements you, and your CVL rep have set up prior to pick up- and SIGN it, the moving company will claim to have you in a legal written agreement, that will DELAY YOUR SHIPMENT!!! READ the terms closely!! The claims department will then deny your request for delay of delivery, and if you push them, they will probably offer you a settlement. It will be a smaller amont than the delay of delivery allows for, AND to further make this practice even more deplorable: The terms if you accept the settlement amount: Are that you cannot post anything negative about them online without legal consequences!! IE: it's a HUSH money settlement! You heard me! A legally binding HUSH MONEY SETTLEMENT!! I denied the Delivery delay offer so I could post the truth online for consumers!
They Moved A Bed, 2 dressers, a small freezer, and 3 LCD TV's from My recently passed Father's state of MI, to Texas. This is the most corrupt company ever. They gave me a delay of PICKUP refund, & I had VOID the "Hush Money Settlement Agreement" required for that refund - in writing. This was necessary in order to post true and honest reviews about them online! The CVL reps are great. Everyone else involved thereafter will lie! I filed a complaint with the FMCSA, and NCCCDB it was so bad!!

Instead of having my husband move our four bedroom home like he wanted to I opted to have Colonial handle the whole process and it was a good idea. Everything ran smoothly a with the exception of one box of cups that broke during the move but it is no big deal. I will recommend them to my parents when they move down this summer.

It started with the original quote. I was given a transportation quote based on 3,000 lbs. to take my furnishings from Atlanta to Miami. About a week before the shipment, I was contacted by another representative who pretty much convinced me to increase my carton count by 30% to make sure I would not have trouble with space on the truck. This increase my cost by 100% but I didn't worry because I had my own count and weight which ended up being calculated at 3,800 lbs. I ended up with only 10% more cartons than originally quoted and about 500 lbs under the 3000 limit. When they came to pick up my load, the truck only had 1/3 free space so my load had to wait about one hour IN THE STREET until a new truck arrived. I was supposed to be called within 2 days to verify the actual weight (one weight in before the truck came and one after it was loaded). I did not get the total weight for 5 days. At this point I was told that actual weight was 3800 lbs. or the total estimated by the second agent. I contested this and as promised, I was invited to another weight in. I was at the initial weight in (about45' from my location). I was in the middle of a family emergency so I trusted the driver that he would send me the final weight in in a matter of hours. final weight in and it TURNED OUT THAT MY LOAD WAS NOW 4,400 lbs.
After these postings, Colonial called me saying they would re-evaluate my claim. They refunded $186 with the caveat that I change or delete my bad reviews. Unfortunately I don't know how to delete the review from Kudzu so I'm following up informing that Colonial did respond to my claim, even if it was only partially.

My past moving experiences have been terrible. For my move out of state a few weeks ago I went with a national company and selected Colonial. I couldn't have picked a better company. From the estimation process, regular communication, price and actual move - Colonial delivered exactly as they said they would. The movers were courteous, professional, on time and didn't damage a single thing. I couldn't believe the move was so easy. Really great company!

Since my initial post I have met with Colonial and at the end of the day have come to a satisfactory resolution. ------ Don't be fooled by the reviews like I was... this company pays for positive reviews. Every negative review I found (after living through my moving nightmare with them) could have been my story. Don't trust their initial quotes...it will change! Don't trust the pick-up/drop-off dates. They barely got my stuff packed and moved out of my house in time and that was because I stayed up all night packing what they didn't have time to do AND they were close to 2 weeks LATE!!! Two weeks of no belongings and no idea of the status/health of our belongings. Our stuff was transferred numerous times, which we specifically stated we did not want to have happen (but they agree to anything to make the sale). So in the end their only compensation was $350, which required us signing a contract that states we will not request further reimbursement and will not speak of our experience. I have yet to hear back from them regarding submitting reimbursement for our damaged items.
Colonial Van Lines moved my 4 bedroom home from Texas to Arizona in the summer of 2016.

The movers worked diligently the entire time they were in our house. They were respectful and wrapped much of my wooden pieces of furniture. However, be sure to ask that the legs of your wooden pieces be wrapped as well.

October 13, 2016 - UPDATE I'm updating my review of Colonial Van Lines from 1 star to 4 stars on Kudzu. My original and primary complaint against Colonial was the fact that my move ended up costing nearly 25% more than what I was quoted and had agreed to. It has taken awhile but Colonial resolved the matter with me by refunding the difference and bringing the cost down to what I was originally quoted. The staff at Colonial are very friendly and will work with you but I would suggest making sure you fully understand the process and have all of the details in order. I believe Colonial is taking steps in the right direction and implementing some new procedures that will improve the customer experience.

Colonial Van Lines are totally Unprofessional and Untrustworthy. With something as important as your household belongings and memories you just cannot afford the experience this company will give you. I would strongly advise any potential interstate moves to stay well away. Arrived 5 hours late Took 8 hours to load Found it necessary to re-pack 80 boxes that were already packed by Two Men and a Truck Resulted in an upcharge of $1800 Left items at storage facility Left boxes at storage facility incurring a tidy fee from storage comapny. Delivery in Dallas Their business practice dictates that you have to sign for your property before they even open the truck - this leads to complications when trying to prove if something actually made it onto the truck. They "lost" : computer and screen 5 wardrobe boxes of clothes They damaged: Vintage Dining table leg snapped off. 20 boxes of "re-packed" books Other furniture gouged and cosmetically damaged by clumsy and unprofessional driver who did not even apologize and just said to contact insurance. In short I would just warn anyone who cares about their belongings to stay away from this company.
