At my last visit to a franchise tire / oil change place they told me I needed $950 of work on CV joint replacement and rear brake drum replacement. I called Cooper Lake for quote, they beat both prices by some margin. So I took it into them to get the work done. After inspecting my minivan they told me neither of these jobs were necessary. They only charged me a minimal $20 brake inspection fee. They now have a customer for life. Thank You Cooper Lake auto. John Mc

I have been coming here for all major repairs for years, their pricing is good and they do quality work. Unlike other repair shops you have a great waiting area to relax in while you wait and nice clean bathroom too. If you want it done right the first time go to Cooper Lake.

With Cooper Lake Automotive you can trust that they will give you the best service at the best price. After stumbling and losing money going from shop to shop, I've finally found a reliable mechanic and I can honestly recommend them to anyone.

I went in to get a diagnosis as my "check engine" light was on. They told me that it was going to cost about $100 for the diagnosis. I said fine left my keys and told them to check the brakes too, as I thought they needed to be replaced. They called me about 45 minutes later and said that the people that changed my oil last should have turned off the check engine light and that the brakes were fine. OK, how much do I owe? $20.00. Wha...? These guys are definitely honest!

Stop your search and check out these guys. I have had several cars repaired by them, they are fair in their pricing, explain the repairs well, and get the job done (even if it requires thinking outside the box). They will do a check on your car for a fair price and apply it to the repair bill, that's more then I can say for the dealer. Great people, fair pricing, great repairs!

After being told by the mechanics at Goodyear (adjacent to South DeKalb Mall) that my car engine had locked up and needed replacing, I got a tow truck to pick it up and carry it to Cooper Lake Automotive. They fixed the supposedly 'locked up engine' for $66. They also installed a battery that I had purchased elsewhere for free. I was really happy to have saved about $5,800 by having the car towed to some honest people instead of listening to Goodyear.

Called CLA due to belt squeak and then no start with 5-speed Maxima.Phone conversation went well and decided to have car towed to shop.(FstFwd)Per return call from Gary, testing "revealed" car needs new starter, starter relay, and inhibitor relay.Stated he was unable to get car cranked(umm..yeah!)and needed it to be running to perform any other tests.I suggested popping the clutch on the phone and his response to that was,yeah/maybe you could.Minus company contracted tow charge of $87,repair quote was for $490.Notified Gary that I would be towing it back home(addtl $85 w/diff service). At pick up($140 for tow/labor),I had some ?'s and Gary kept saying he can't do anything unless the car's running(once again....umm yeah).Suggested popping the clutch again and same response, yeah you could.Made to feel more like an imposer than a customer. My tow driver asked what was wrong with the car and he suggested, you guessed it!,pop the clutch.I was like EXACTLY!Which he did,and it started.Still wouldn't crank after shut-off.Had referred mobile mechanic come and problem was diagnosed in 30 min.Including pick up time for needed part(IGNITION SWITCH),and install, total time was 1hr 30 mins for a total of $115!WOW!Fired right up.Who knows, maybe a bad week for CLA,but a great aversion by me.Thank Heavens for a tow truck driver and a trusty mobile mechanic!Wish I had found the mob mech earlier and could have saved over $220 and at least 3 days of car rental fees!Needless to say, no referral here.

The biggest dread of all is having to get a new transmission. This place made it so easy I was blown away. Not only did I get a good price, but a 100,000 mile warranty as well. Furthermore I couldn't believe how QUICK they were! My ride was up and running in 2 short days. I will continue to use Cooper Lake Automotive as well as suggest them to others. -JB

While MikeMan may be on a tear giving Cooper Lake a bad review anywhere he can write one, I had a completely different experience. I think perhaps he misunderstood their advice when it came to transmission issues, because I had a similar issue. I came to this shop a week or two ago for a strange noise. After looking at it, they told me that it was a noise from my transmission suggesting that there was internal damage. The staff there, and here's where MikeMan may have stopped listening, told me that they don't make repairs in transmissions, they only replace them. They gave me a price on what it would cost to replace the transmission, but then suggested that I go to a transmission specialist to see if it was something that could be repaired for less than it would cost to install a whole new transmission. Not only that, but they didn't charge me for checking it out even though they were obviously very busy. I work in business myself and know that time is money and the fact that they treated me so well is something I will remember. I'll definitely be back here for all of my repairs.

I went here recently for my annual emissions inspection. The person I spoke to was very professional and I liked that I did not have to wait (though that can be unpredictable for emissions inspections). They had a spacious and clean waiting area. But thankfully I did not have to wait long as they finished my inspection quickly.

Had to go to GM dealer to fix the easy brake problem they couldn't find! 2 hours for an oil change! After oil changed I asked what was wrong with the brakes and the reply was that the mechanic "forgot to check them". He also "forgot" to clear the change engine oil light and "forgot" to check the rear wiper blade. Horrible mechanic!

I was trying to get out of town on a Friday before the traffic hit, and my car broke down!! I had it towed to Cooperlake and not only did they rush me to find out the problem, they had the parts there, and had my car fixed within two hours! The service was excellent - the staff was wonderful - I just took my car there again today.... HH
