y brother in law died around 9:00 am on Sept 11. The hospice nurse called South Care Cremation Society and Memorial Centers (this is also a regular funeral home). Two women arrived in a station wagon, without a word of sympathy. The woman was very surly. She told them that nobody at South Care worked on the weekend. It cost an extra $500 to get them to. The pair then proceed to jerk the body around. They had trouble getting it in the station wagon, so the surly one jerked it around some more. At South Care later that day, she was overheard yelling at someone over the phone, and after hanging up yelled that she wouldn't be treated that way. After I emailed South Care to complain about the disrectful treatment, the owner called my sister and made an appointment to come by and talk to her. He never showed up. Of course, all the money had to be paid up front - around $11,000. Not a nice experience for so much money. Remember the new name of this establishment... and decide whether you want to send a loved one there.

The death certificate takes at least 4 weeks, not 3 as promised unless you pay $80.to expedite the process. There is a $50. extra charge added for posting the newspaper obituary through them (Call paper yourself) Social security denies that Southern Crematory contacted them.

This is a difficult decision for those of us who hadn't really planned ahead of time. They helped me with the funeral arrangements for my Mother. The folks from this organization were very good at quietly and professionally helping to make sure that everything was taken care of. I would highly recommend them.

I would like to thank the nice directors at the Cremation Society of the South for their care of my wife, Carol. I have buried both of my parents and used other well known funeral homes in the area and no one can compare to the care that my family recieved. We did not choose the cremation society because of money but their service and the simplicity is truly priceless. Thank you for all that you have done. You are truly an amazing organization. Dr. W.H.
