Just Rude, 12/10/2014

I called Curltopia yesterday to book an appointment for next week for my college graduation. Despite their website stating that they accept appointments on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 1 pm, I was told... that I could not book an appointment because they were closed. After pointing out their website states that they do hair on appointments only on Tuesdays, I asked why they were closed. Julia told me that the shop doesn't book enough appointments on Tuesday so they won't do my hair. I mentioned that many salons will take an appointment in extreme circumstances like this- a college graduation. Julia literally told me that some of the hair stylists may not want to come in so she could not grant me an appointment. One appointment is better than no appointments. Co-owner Trish called me back saying their website & message greeting are inaccurate. She also told me to "just go somewhere else" to get my hair done. When I let her know that I had also informed the BBB, she insulted me by saying, "oh, that's what you have time to do, huh?" No wonder they don't have appointments- their business ethic and customer services SUCKS.

great instruction

James gave me a fantastic haircut. More importantly he took the time to teach me how to maintain the cut. My hair looked wonderful for 3 months thanks to a wonderful cut and great instruction on how to maintain it.

C'town

I continue to drive monthly from Columbus to Smyrna because Brynn is excellent. She makes my natural curls come alive. I leave with more knowledge of maintaining my natural hair. Mikki

Worth the drive!

I drove 130 miles one way to get the right haircut for my naturally coily/kinky hair and it was worth every mile! Brynn was my stylist and she gave me the style that I wanted AND she cut my formerly long hair so that I can donate it to a worthy cause. I am very pleased with my service and my stylist and I look forward to my next visit!

Naturally Happy Again

Brynn was our stylist (my daughter and I). She was awesome and talked us through the process explaining what she was doing and which product worked best for our hair type. It was worth the drive from C'town. We are naturally happy with our stylist Brynn!

Fabulous Hair

My daughter and I had our first appointment with Jazsmin at Curltopia last week. I am most interested in natural hair care for us as I have not been successful with care and need ideas for natural hair styles appropriate for Corporate America (me) and middle school (daughter). We looked great with our new styles and received MANY compliments as the week progressed. The 4 hours for the both of us were well spent. I'm looking forward to future appointments and having healthy fabulous hair!

Fun, educational experience

My first curly hair appointment was last Friday and I had the pleasure of placing my beloved curls in the hands of James, Curltopia's master Deva stylist. James has a fabulously fun personality. He engages you in great conversation. I could tell he truly adores ethnic hair and its idiosyncracies. He gave me a Devacut, which I am currently still ga-ga over, and gave me a prescription and directions on how I can achieve the fluffy soft, 2nd-day look I now love at home. I will be definitely seeing him again soon for color!

Ask for Stacey!

Stacey is the bomb stylist; she's earned the title Master Stylist!! She's very knowledgeable about natural African American hair, and I feel extremely confident about my styling experience when I'm in her chair. She's done both natural finger styling as well as a blow out on my hair. I loved both equally! See her when you can!

Ask for James!

If you have curly hair, Curltopia is the salon for you. I recently went to Curltopia for the first time, and I had a Deva Cut and style with James. James gave me the best hair cut I have ever had! Not only is he confident and knowledgeable about cutting and caring for curly hair, but he is also fun to be around. James educated me about what DevaCurl products would work well for my hair and, most importantly, he showed me how to use them –they are great! The salon staff was also very friendly and professional. My Curltopia experience exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to go back for my next appointment!

Transitional Hairstyle Ashley

Visiting Curltopia was my first visit to a natural hair salon. I have been natural for a year and a half now. I still had some heat damage in the front of my hair and wasn't ready to do the big chop. Ashley, recommended a transitional style that turned out to be perfect for me. It was my first experience and I love my hair and so does everyone else. Ashley was very knowledgeable and very pleasant. I will be going back. Thanks Ashley! Patrice

Great Experience @ Curltopia

This was my 1st visit at Curltopia. I did not get a style or anything as I am currently transitioning. Prior to my shampoo and complimentary deep condition, Brynn (stylist) educated me about what I needed to do to get my hair healthier from the relaxers that has damaged my hair tremendously. I simply went for a trimm as I am afraid of the big-chop right now. Brynn done an execellant job with the trimm ($50) as she was not "scissor-happy". Prior to leaving, I was given a Natural Hair Prescription that was helpful in what products are best for my hair texture. Brynn provided me detail information on how to use the products also. I would definately recommend others to give Curltopia a try as the environment is relaxing and shows great customer service. Oh yea, you can purchase the products prescribed at the salon which was a plus for me.
