Open Mic Nights Suck here!, 10/19/2012

Don't show up for the open mic nights unless you are in the inner circle of bands. The singer for the house band, Maurice is a MORON!

Best Blues in Town, 8/21/2008

Darwin's consistently has great blues musicians from all over the nation, including local favorites. Pop a squat on the patio, relax and enjoy a wonderful night of great music!

Redneck hangout

My husband and I went here a while back to listen to a band. The only thing good I can say about the place is that the music itself was great. We don't usually mind "hole in the wall" kind of places but this is beyond that. It's just down right gross in there and the people weren't much better. First of all, it felt like we were intruders when we walked in because everyone stopped and stared at us. I'm assuming that was because most of the people are regulars which isn't hard to believe since most of them look like they live in a bar or are homeless. Even though we felt very unwelcome, we decided to stay because the band was really good. We paid the cover at the door when we got there and after about half an hour, an older lady came over to us and asked us to pay again. We told her we'd already paid and she argued with us that we hadn't and threatened to get someone to kick us out unless we paid right then. Her attitude was very nasty and when we asked to talk to the owner, she informed us that she was the owner! We'd had enough at this point and my husband went to close out our tab. We will NEVER go back to this place which is a real shame since they have a lot of great musicians who come through there. Between the sketchy "regulars", the classless owner, and the filthy bar and restrooms, it's just not worth it.

Best Live-Music Venue in Metro-Atlanta

Darwin's is in Marietta (NW metro-Atlanta,) but don't let that scare you away. It's the only small venue (as compared to concert halls) in the metro area that regularly hosts regional and national acts in blues, blues-rock, and jazz. In the past few months (late 2007-early 2008) I've seen Jimmy Hall (of Wet Willie,) Sean Chambers, Damon Fowler, Albert Castiglia, Michael Burks, Chris Duarte... all at Darwin's. Darwin's isn't a sports-bar or a pool-hall; there are no TVs or video games. It's a music venue (and also a bar/restaurant.) The owner and her staff have been together for years, and the service is friendly and fast. Dawin's is open (and offers live music) every Friday and Saturday night, as well as most Thursdays and some Wednesdays. Check the website for details: http://www.DarwinsBlues.com
