My experience was classic lowballing. I had called around to price out a simple job and Davis stated it would be significantly less than the other plumbers I had called. When they came onsite, the price ballooned to ~3x the original estimate. The final cost was in line with the highest estimate I had from the other plumbers.

The reason given for the increase in price on a fairly basic job was that his skillset allowed him to charge more. Given the bait and switch tactics, I can't say that I would recommend this plumber above others.


NOTE: I don't think it's dishonest to state that the over the phone price was so remarkably far off from the quoted price that this was most definitely a bait and switch. Since you have to pay the plumber for the visit, whether they do the job or not, it's definitely not an honest business practice. The ethical practice would be to provide a quote that reflected the high cost in comparison to other companies.

The question isn't just the high cost. If they have predatory business practices (and resort to calling customers dishonest), can you really trust them if a problem comes up with their work?

Charged $285 for replacing a 6 inch line of pipe. The job took all of 1 hr including to a trip to home depot to replace a flange. Work appears to be good, although a little pricey.

I called about 7 companies to get an estimate and all but Davis wanted to come out even though I knew what was needed. I didn't have the time to waste nor did I want to haggle over the price. Davis gave me an estimate that was accurate! He didn't add any EXTRA or try to fix anything that didn't need it. The service was great and the price was very fair.

Thanksgiving weekend SUNDAY I sent an email to Davis Plumbing that my hot water heater pilot light would not stay lit so we were without hot water. Within an hour Melvin called me and said that he could have someone there by 1pm same day! Ray and Melvin came out and assessed the problem as a bad gas valve. They would have fixed it there on the spot, but we wanted to call the company to see if the part was still under warranty. It wasn't so Alex and Melvin came out first thing on Monday and replace the gas valve so now I have hot water!! We also showed them all of our plumbing issues and they took care of those too!! Best plumbers I have ever been around. Alex worked for hours late in to the evening getting all of our problems fixed. Ray will be out on Wednesday to work on our shower. Thank You!!
