My daughter attended Daystar for a few years. The dance instruction was fine, and with the exception of the extremely long (and somewhat disorganized ) recitals, she liked it. I purchased a costume for $55.00. My daughter decided not to participate in the recital, so I asked for the costume (since I had paid for it). The instructor/owner stated that those costumes were not going to be used anyway (I cannot remember the reason). In any event, I never received either my costume or $55.00 back, despite asking on more than one occasion. This was over a year ago. This also happened with a pair of ballet slippers I ordered. The slippers did not fit, so they had to be returned. I never got another pair of slippers or a refund. I was disappointed, as I really like the owner. I am not sure if she either could not afford to refund my money, had resold my costume/slippers or is just extremely disorganized. In any event, I would be careful paying for anything up front, as you may not get either the product, or a refund, and simply be out your money.

My daughter is a long time student at Daystar. She has participated in various forms of dance and has always received quality instruction. Her teachers care for her as a person, student and dancer. They have high expectations and challenge her appropriately while providing a fun learning enviroment. I feel that fees are reasonable at the studio, including the expense of costumes. Our experiences with recitals have always been positive and enjoyable.

Although Ms. Cathy is a very nice person I was not impressed with the quality of the instruction or with the dance recital. My 4 year old took classes here and I just thought the place was very ho hum. Nothing exciting, the facility in downtown Kennesaw is dirty and the waiting room is very cramped & uncomfortable. The quality of the instruction was pretty poor, even though my daughter did well and was asked to join a jr. company. I thought the dancing in the recital was pretty awful actually. The little kids were cute, but the overall quality was just not good. I am currently looking for a new studio for my daughter.

I wish I knew more about the rest of the school to say something, but I don't. So, this is only about adult ballet. But, the director is one of the instructors of adult ballet in 2004, so this is actually related to her. I went to adult ballet there for a few months. I think it totals up to 7 months. I had 3 different instructors. One through summer, the director and a substitute. All three did an excellent job. If you want a 1-hour adult ballet class, this is a fine place to do that. I'm writing this in 2005 while one of those instructors from 2004 is currently handling that class, so get on in there because she's good.
