Convenient, state of the art care
DAH gives convenient, state-of-the-art care to my cats. I will continue to take my pets there. Only one critique - need to put hours of operation on answering machine, I've had to guess a few times and had to wait until they opened. Also, I've never met the vet, I've only talked with front staff - would be nice if vet would come out every once in a while and say hi or something.

Our hours of operation are on the answering machine and posted on the building. I can't remember a time when I didn't speak with a client about there pet, but I am glad your are satisfied with the level of veterinary care you receive at Deshon Animal Hospital. Please give us a call and reference this review and I will make sure we meet and talk as long as you need to. Dr.Toler

Great Appreciation
Dr. Toler showed great concern for the well being of my cat (petey). I appreicaiate his willingness to work with me and his professionalism. The staff also very helpful and friendly. They were such a blessing to Petey and I.

All about the $$$
Dr. Toler appears to be about $$$, not animals. I took my dog with a bad hip to Deshon since 2000. He responded well to treatment. In 2003 Dr. Toler took over the practice. Instead of one shot, he said my dog needed a costly prescription. Within 3 weeks, my 9 year old dog with no problems except the bad hip was dead.
I got another dog and went to a different vet; however our groomer (she’s fantastic) works from veterinary offices, so I found myself back at Deshon in 2008. No problem (so I thought) because I took my dog’s medical records and signed for the groomer to handle him. Well Dr. Toler thought of new way to make money because in June they decided my dog needed a “flu” shot that wasn’t on his records. The doctor wasn’t in, so I asked to have him call me before he touched him. Meanwhile I called my vet. The technician said they don’t give that shot automatically because it’s optional, not legally required. She jokingly said it sounded like they were trying to get extra money from me.
The worst of it is, the doctor never called me but gave my dog the shot anyway. When I went to pick him up they tried to charge me for a $40 office visit and a $22 shot. When I complained to Dr. Toler he told me not to bring my dog back.
He didn’t need to say it. I NEVER will!

Your pet was receiving monthly Depo-Medrol injections for three years prior to me buying the practice. Unfortunately, monthly Depo-Medrol injections are not a safe treatment for hip dysplasia. Chronic steroid usage can lead to excessive drinking, excessive urination, vomitting, diarrhea liver failure, pancreatitis, stomach ulcers, diabetes and in severe cases death. Most(if not all) vets will agree that it is safer and more effective to use one of the medically approved anti-inflammatory/pain medications to control arthritis like deramaxx. I would be more concerned about how three years of monthly steroid shots contributed to your pet's death. As for the vaccinations your were made aware of our vaccination policy. All pets must be up-to-date on vaccinations BEFORE they can be dropped off. The vaccinations required by our hospital was listed at the receptionist desk. The receptionist also made you aware your pet was due for vaccinations. You also signed the drop off form stating you are aware these vaccinations would be given to your pet. You were told all of these things BEFORE, you dropped your pet off. Our policies and recommendations are designed to protect all the pets in our care, no exceptions Dr. Toler
