A high quality place!
made an online purchase from Dirt Cheep Music for a Michael Kelly Patriot Glory w/ hardshell case.I'm from Ontario Canada and the instrument I was looking for was unavailable anywhere locally. To keep the review short, let me just say that my being from Canada complicated the transaction greatly, but Aaron Rathbone and his staff gave me some very personal attention to make sure the guitar made its way to me. The guitar itself had some issues, but since it was shipped direct from the factory, it had nothing to do with Dirt Cheep. Even so, they were very concerned with making sure I was happy, and they looked after every detail until all issues were resolved. The things that stood out most to me were:1) Excellent prices2) Attentive, personal service3) Open and honest communication, and very quick responses to emails and questions4) A willingness to "make it work", no matter the challenges involved.I would highly recommend Dirt Cheep Music for any of your musical needs. They really make you feel like you're the #1 customer.

Quality and Friendly Service
Steve Franks and Aaron Rathbone really worked with me and helped out with a new system for our group. We changed our mind a lot and had some issues on our end, but they stayed friendly and understanding through it all. We really appreciated everything they did and we got a great price.

Good people. Loved it!
I've played musical instruments (such as the double bass, electric bass, euphonium, tuba, and pianosadly I never learned the recorder :( ) on and off my entire life. I've recently focused on teaching myself turntabilism through vids, and remixing. Not knowing anything about the product lines, I picked out a Mixtrack and asked if they might be able to offer other advice. About 45 minutes worth of knowledge later, I felt very comfortable with my purchase and that the people actually gave a **** about providing customers with quality service. In writing this, i'm actually going to go back today....

Somewhat misleading
My daughter wanted to learn the violin this year so we started looking around to buy one. I saw that Dirt Cheep Music had a decent looking student violin. It was called Brandenburg 880. I tried looking for some reviews of the instrument online. The only place that sold this brand was Dirt Cheep Music. It didn't seem to exist anywhere else. So I emailed and asked if it was an in -house brand. I was told yes it is and it's made specifically for them and to their specifications. So we drive out to look at the violin. We just saw the one on display and it looked decent enough, neither of us knows much about violins. So we had daughter measured and she needed a small size that they don't carry. They ordered it and we picked it up a week later. Imagine my surprise to find a Palatino tag on it. Palatino instruments are widely available, this store just calls it something else and leads you to believe it's some special violin that isn't available anywhere else. We plan on getting another Palatino when she outgrows this one. I just found this to be somewhat dishonest. Other than that customer service was great.

Thanks so much for the feedback, and so sorry to hear that we did not explain the need to order a Palatino in enough detail. The Brandenburg line of instruments -is- made specifically for Dirt Cheep, and to our exact specifications. It meets all the requirements for school music in Georgia, and has been complimented by teachers and master violin makers alike for the incredible value we offer in the brand. Our Brandenburg brand features the most requested sizes, and sometimes we have smaller sizes available. In your case, the size your daughter needed must have only been available in a Brandenburg, but was available in the Palatino brand. Palatino instruments are so similar in specification to our Brandenburgs that we are very comfortable recommending them (similar materials, same warranty, and we service them in the store). However, we can offer better overall service with the Brandenburg brand because we control the quality and parts. Palatino is manufactured by The Music Link based in San Francisco, and though we have a great relationship with them, they control their own quality and parts. For whatever reason we were not clear that the size you needed at the time was only available as a Palatino and not a Brandenburg - so sorry for any confusion there! We do not misrepresent the brands we carry, and do not simply relabel Palatino instruments with our own brand. I am happy to speak with you in person to answer any questions about our instruments, and provide details on the manufacturing, sourcing, or anything else you are curious about. Thank you SO much for the detailed review - we try very hard for perfection, and it's great reviews like this that help us communicate better. We appreciate your business and support! Regards // Aaron Rathbone, GM

Expectations Exceeded
The staff at Dirt Cheep went above and beyond expectations during the recent purchase of an instrument. Needless to say, after being a Dirt Cheep customer for twenty-one years, my expectations were met and then some. Thanks again!!
