* Custom Guitar Building:
Acoustic guitars, Electric guitars, and Electric bass guitars built using the highest quality
hardware and materials, meticulously handcrafted
* Vintage Stringed Instrument Restoration:
Instruments, repaired in a way that respects the integrity, and value of the quality instruments
Many old instruments handed down through families have been repaired, and restored there-by
continuing to bring enjoyment to a family,.. either being played or displayed for many more years.
All custom neck fretting, as well as refretting of your favorite old neck. Necks are planed and
prepared on a string tension simulator built by myself. What this does for you is it spreads the
string tension equally across your fingerboard and not just on the truss rod in the center,
improving string to string balance. note:all string nuts and bridge saddles are hand made from
BONE no plastic used.
*Repair Broken Headstocks:
Don't despair, many breaks can be repaired almost undetectably with-out having to give up that
neck that you love. Let us repair it for you.
This can restore a very bad playing guitar to a phenomenal playing instrument, correcting bad
intonation to sweet chords, increasing power, tone and volume to your instrument.
If your bridge is lifting cracked or broken..most of the time I can repair the original bridge and
reset it. Sometimes a new bridge is in order. I do custom recreations or OEM replacements
either way we go your instrument will be restored to it's beautiful tone.
Give us a call we look forward to meeting you and helping with your needs.
I have used Mr. Dodson for the last 5 years (up until last year) and spent large sums of money in repairs, set-ups, refret jobs and pickup installations. However I was abruptly cut out of the loop and refused service. Won't even answer my calls...

I have been taking my guitars to Tom for almost 20 years and one will not find a more skilled luthier. His repairs are perfect and the guitars he makes exceed the quality of all the usual suspects. I have had new frets, nuts, electronic work and setups done by Tom with amazing results. Regardless of where you live, the drive to his shop is well worth the time. Whenever I had something done locally by a store "tech", they either ruined the project or I had to go back to Tom to get it done correctly. Plus...he's a great guy!

I recently had some work done on an electric guitar by Tom Dodson and I was pleased with what I got on a couple of different levels. Dodson Guitars is a distance travel from my house. There are other businesses local to me that repair electric guitars. Sadly none of which have owners and employees that have the people skills needed to offer even a smile when they see you come through the door. Tom Dodson not only smiled the whole time I was there but he took the time to engage in conversation and answer all of my questions. I would be at fault if I did not mention that his wife, who was there at the time, did the same. They explained to me what needed to be done and proceeded to exceed my expectations at a price point that made me smile. If you want someone to repair your guitar and go the extra mile - if you want someone who is personable - if you want to spend your hard earned dollar where there is a fella that take pride in his work then Dodson Guitar is the where you want to go. It is worth any extra travel you might have to undertake.

Had repairs done by him for a few years, the last three were pretty poor quality. Maybe he was too busy or poor help. Only go if you have a guitar with a "bolt on neck".

I've taken 7 guitars to Tom Dodson's and have always left his shop with him exceeding my expectations at a price that is more than reasonable. Located approximtely 5 miles off exit 201 on I-75, I will always take my guitars to Tom. I one day plan to buy one of his custom guitars.

I have been taking my highly valued vintage Fender guitars to Tom of Dodson Guitars for I would say the past 3 years. I have nothing but positive things to say about his repair work as well as craftsmanship. He is articulate and considerate of the instruments, he knows how to set a guitar up PROPERLY, and as a craftsman, his handmade instruments are to die for; he can carve the BEST necks in the business. What also makes Dodson Guitars stand out over the rest is the fret work they do, the best in the business bar none. If your guitar need fret work, maintenance, or just some good TLC, do not even hesitate taking it to Dodson Guitars, fair prices, quick turnaround time, and articulate craftsmanship and repair work that will please the most scrutinizing of players as well as collectors.

Tom Dodson is extremely talented when it comes with repairing or setting up stringed instrument. (He can play a pretty good lick as well.) He set up my Telecaster and did a wonderful job. No request seems to rattle him. He's easy to work with, does a great job and is very reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone for small to major repairs of their guitar. He can also build you a custom one if that's what you want.

I brought a used guitar for my son and, knowing nothing about guitars, asked Tom to check it for me. He found several structural problems that were not visible, and recommended that I return it. He patiently taught me how to evaluate a guitar and recommended several places to find one. He is so knowledgable, yet was never condescending or pushy. His main concern was making sure that my son got an instrument that he would love playing for years to come. He helped me find one that was under my budget and plays beautifully. Tom set it up for me, and my son LOVES it. He says the action and sound are perfect, and his friends that experienced musicians love playing it. Tom is a rare craftsman that we are fortunate to have in the Atlanta area.
Between studio, touring, & personal use I own about 40 guitars. For the past 15 years Dodson Guitars has kept them all up and running in top shape. Give them a try and you'll quickly see why they come so highly recommended.
I have been dealing with Dodson Guitars for over 20 yrs. I have found his services to be first rate in all areas of guitar repair. He can build you a great Guitar also. Tom Dodson is a great guy and a super guitar player.
I have used a number of guitar luthier over the past 30 years. Tom Dodson is by far the best that I have found. His qualty of service and building is super. His personality and attention to detail on each job is outstanding. I would recommend Dodson guitars to any guitar player looking for the best.
I live exactly 100 miles from Dodson's Guitars. I have three guitar shops within 20 minutes of my house. When I need work done on my guitars (7) I take them to Tom Dodson. He has done re-frets, PUP installations, set-ups, made a beautiful fluted nut for a Jazz-Box of mine, you name it; he's done it. He works on my guitars the same way he would if they were his. He's meticulous in his work and that's what I'm after. I can't say enough about this guy. An excellent guitar tech is more rare than an honest mechanic...when you find one, you stick with him. I'll continue the 200 mile round trip...It's worth it!

I only trust my guitars (six and counting) to Dodson Guitars. Tom is an absolute master technician. His work is second to none. Tom has taken one of my fair sounding guitars and made it sound Great! Tom has also taken a cracked finish on one of my guitars and made the cracks all but disappear. I can honestly say Tom is that once in a lifetime guitar Tech. I have always found Tom to be honest and forthcoming with all my questions and requests. From a repair on a vintage investment piece to a brand new out of the box guitar I can always rely on Dodson Guitars to make it sound, feel, look, and play better every time.
