We have been regular customers of Doggone Handy for many years now. The work continues to be top-notch, but the office has become an obstacle. Our problems have included unreturned phone calls,... estimates that are riddled with errors, and the wrong supplies ordered for the job. We hate to move on, but we won't be using Doggone Handy anymore. We don't have time to deal with all the problems.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I had Dog Gone Handy Team out to tackle multiple jobs. An external outlet issues, fridge issue and a garbage disposal challenge. I am not easy on vendors and hard to please. I met my match with... George ( my service representative) and Dog Gone Handy! All the work scheduled to be repaired by George proved to be an easier task-at least for George. George then asked repeatedly where else he could help me with some other projects that I was going to tackle on my own as we had addtional time left on the intial 2hr minimum. ALL the work performed was at a high standard.. George was incredibly pleasant, through, took the time to explain things to me and how to prevent some of the jobs in the future. I have already recommended them to many of my friends this week.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I needed a new exhaust fan in my master bath. The builder, Ashton Woods, had the fan vented into the eves of the house, not good! Sean or Shane, (sorry I'm bad w/ names), came out assessed the situation and presented a plan to replace the fan and vent it properly. They were on time, clean, and very good at what they do. I'm very glad to have found Dog Gone Handy.

Asked them to replace my single shower door (32.5"w x 65"h). The technician showed up 10:49 am as promised and finally completed the work at 4 pm (they charge $75/hour). Initially, he billed me for $668.71 for 6 hours (which was really 5 hours and 11 minutes to be exact) of work which include his 45 min trip to Home Depot. Remind you, I paid for the new shower door, and $668.71 is the labor fee only. Then, he brought the price down to $$468.71 after I mentioned a lawyer and BBB. We finally agreed with $168.71, which include 2 hours of labor fee plus 3 hours worth of sales tax. Since I used $75 coupon, I didn't have to pay the whole 3 hours of labor fee. Next day, the company agreed to compensate $40. At least, after 5 hours and 11 min later of hard work, the technician fixed my shower door very nicely. If you have strong negotiation skills, use this company. You may be able to get $500 discount like I did .

Poor communication is what ultimately led to the review of this project. The call originally came from the reviewers wife, whose English was very difficult to understand. The homeowner stated that we were replacing an exterior basement door and frame that she was providing. When our tech (master carpenter) arrived he was surprised to learn that it was not an exterior door but a shower door. DGH matches the skill sets required for each job to our individual techs skills to result in a professional job. Not prepared for this type of project, a trip to HD was required for supplies needed. It did take him longer to install the shower door. He presented her with the bill which she protested for the hours involved. She did give him a credit card though but did not call the office to discuss. Back at the office, the project was discussed with the office manager. It was agreed that only the time originally estimated during initial phone call would be billed to the credit card. The next day, her husband (out of town during installation) and the person who wrote this review, called and discussed the issues he was upset with. It was explained to him that we were only going to charge the amount originally estimated. He was not satisfied with this reduced offer as well and our explanation went on deaf ears as he vented that he felt we were trying to take advantage of his wife. Nothing could be further from the truth, and if fact to calm him, offered to credit him an additional hour. Communication is what failed during this job, from the first conversation with the wife, through communication to the office, as well as a timely follow up with the client to let them know how we were billing the job. The husband might also learn from this situation and he may wish to communicate with service companies in the future to ensure a clear picture of what the needs are for his home.
The team at Dog Gone Handy is 1st rate. From the moment I called and scheduled the first visit, to the timing of visit, to the quality of the work. It was a great experience. Thank goodness for Dog Gone Handy, they helped get me out of the DOG HOUSE with my wife.

They came out to my house to give a quote, and their quote was kind of high, but don't be turned off by that. The guy who actually came out to do the work, did it in literally half the time, and he was awesome! Everything looked great!

We provide verbal estimates for the cost of projects based upon the description of the work provided by the customer before we schedule a technician. Upon our technicianís arrival the work is reviewed with the customer and any differences in pricing is discussed and approved before proceeding.
If the quality of the work was unsatisfactory we would always want to take corrective measures to satisfy the customer.
We do not know who this customer is and we have received no calls to discuss their dissatisfaction. In our opinion it would only be fair for this customer to contact us before posting a review that provides misleading information about our company.
I had two fairly simple things done. I had the interior trim below my window replaced and caulking redone between the tile and tub in my bathroom. The person who came out worked very quickly, which is good since they charge by the hour, but the work was sloppy. The edges of the trim were rough and should have been sanded, and because the excess caulk on the tiles and tub was not wiped off, they had to come back to redo it. Even after redoing it, there were air bubbles in the caulk that left holes after drying. I've decided I'll redo the caulk again myself and not waste my time calling them again.

We reached out to our client thru a phone call and an email(after reading this post) to offer redoing the tasks that our client felt was deficient. We have never heard back from her. We also sent her a gift certificate and hope she will give us another chance.
I got electric work done in my basement - outlet installation etc. The guy showed up on time, was very courteous and provided good service overall. However, didn't install one of the electric outlets cleanly - rain water seeped from external wall and the outlet stopped working after the first time it rained. Contacted them a few months later, explained the problem. No problem they said... fixed the issue, and didn't charge me for the trip or time. That's the way to do business.. thank you DGH!

Thanks for the opportunity to revisit the work!
Waited for representative to assess potential work. Upon calling to find out about ETA of rep, David told me he was already at my home and we didn't answer (we were here at the home) and he had no number to call. After calling home office, received different details from them -- reps have numbers and calls were made to one of our phones (nothing in any of our call logs). Wow! Could't even get a consistent answer :-(

DogGoneHandy prides itself on being on time to all our appointments. Our sales representative was at the home at scheduled time. There was no answer at the door. We waited for 15 minutes for client to arrive but needed to leave to go to the next appointment. Our representative dialed the phone number provided and left a voice message. After an internal review of our representativeís phone log it was discovered the number was dialed incorrectly. Unfortunately the person we left the message with did not notify us of the mistake.
We regret this error and have apologized the client. We have offered her 2 hours of free service as a form of compensation for the confusion.
I am so happy to find a reliable handyman service. I'd been trying to get a quote for a small job for almost 2 months from another service and finally gave up. Dog Gone Handy took the info and photos I sent via e-mail - gave me some suggestions, a range of prices and what I needed to do to get ready for them. The day we had scheduled for the work, the man showed up on time, worked quickly and did a great job. I'm very happy and recommend them to anyone I know who needs a handy man.

When looking for handymen, I noticed on kudzu that Doggonehandy had a nearly perfect record, and the few complaints they received they quickly responded to. That was a good sign, so I contacted them. I'm very glad I did, because they were very professional, kept every appointment we made, and did an amazing job for a reasonable price. I should add that I live in a converted warehouse, and some of the jobs were difficult and not the typical house-stuff, but again, they did a fantastic job.

These guys are OUTSTANDING. When my wife's mom passed away in 2008, we had a monumental task of fixing up her house. They were prompt, courteous and very professional and did an outstanding job. going to use them for every project from now on.
