I went to El Azteca last week. The food came really fast, the service was excellent - waiter checked on us a few times - and the frozen margaritas are delicious and omg strong :) I recommend for a fast, casual, tasty meal.

Or at least don't get delivery from the one on Ponce. A few nights ago, my girlfriend and I ordered delivery... appetizer and two entrees. Estimated delivery time was 45 min at 830P. At the hour mark I called to check on the status to make sure they had all of the information correct. I was told the driver had left 20 minutes prior and was on the way. At the 80 minute mark, the driver called and wanted to confirm my address. He was still 10-15 minutes away. After 10:00P, the food finally arrived. It was cold, soggy, and disgusting. We threw it away. The manager promised that he would credit back my card and to check back in a few days. Today they say they can't do that. When I said I was not going to ever go back to that restaurant, the manager told me to "Go to H***!" It sure is an odd way to run a business. To be fair, I've never eaten in the restaurant. So, maybe that is a different experience. Based on the manager's behavior, I guess I'll never know.

I consider myself an "afficionado" of Mexican food and El Azteca is not the best I've had but it's also not the worst. You get a lot for your money and the food is tolerable and the service is fast. It's more of a "sit down" take out restaurant.

We used to go to this one on Ponce all the time but their service went down hill. No matter how busy or slow the service stinks & the waiters only focus on the larger parties. Ugh! The food is fine but nothing to get excited about. Oh & watch out for the giant rats!

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites, but it has gone down in quality. The service has become inattentive as well. Too bad because they had great fish tacos and a wonderful spinach vegetarian meal, but they're just mediocre now.

El Azteca is your average Mexican restaurant, but the value and atmosphere make up for any shortcomings. Massive beers will run you less than $5, and you can get a sit down lunch for usually around $5 or $6 bucks. This locale actually has a cool feature, an underground bar around back called El Bar that stays open late and is a good alternative spot to the usual VaHi bars.
