We moved to the Woodstock area 20 years ago. We are animal lovers so it was necessary to find a reliable vet for our "babies"! We found Etowah Veterinary on Hwy 5 (Canton Rd) just north of Jamerson and Shallowford roads. Easily accessed by both Cherokee and Cobb county residents. Etowah is the very best! 10 out of 10! Their staff and Dr's Cheng and Baker have been through numerous diagnoses with our pets (currently 4 dogs and 2 cats), from boarding, yearly exams and inoculations, heart worm and joint meds, severe illness (cancer), thyroid tests and meds, weight mgmt, allergies, geriatrics, torn knee ligaments... in 20 years, you can imagine, our pets have medical needs just as we human owners do. If you are looking for a superior vet, because your animal deserves only the best, give them a call. You will find they are not only knowledgeable, they have compassionate and loving hearts when it comes to you and your best friends.

Dr. Cheng is a very talented and detail oriented Veterinary Doctor. I have brought 4 different dogs to receive care at the Etowah Veterinary Hospital. One dog passed of cancer (The staff were very sensitive), two others had surgery, and all four had top level medical care. Dr. Cheng is more thorough and careful with my doggies than my people doctor is for me! Some of the younger techs are still learning but I wouldn't go anywhere else if my pet needed medical care.

I have been disapointed by the front desk of this vet one too many times and felt I needed to let people know about it. There is one female that answers the phone that is the most uncaring, unsympathetic and RUDE individual ever. I do not know why she is employed at a place where sympathy (or at least empathy) is mandatory! Today was the final straw. I called to schedule the most awful of all procedures for my 15 1/2 year old dog - Euthanasia. My husband and I had decided on Friday so that we could have a few days with her to prepare ourselves and say goodbye. As anyone with pets know, this is the most difficult decision to make since our animals can't exactly talk to us. We FINALLY make the decision and this "robot" on the phone says, "Oh, we can't do friday, the docs do surgeries on Friday. Another day?" Really??? Are you kidding me??? And the way she spoke was just so awful! I will never take my animals back there eventhough I feel Dr. Chang is a fantastic vet. The front desk needs massive improvement!

I had been to another vet on Hwy 92 who only cared about my money and not my pet. So when I came to Etowah, I was prepared for the same attitude. I was pleasantly surprised to find they actually cared about my cat and not the price they could charge me. Unfortunately, my cat took a turn for the worse and we ended up having to put him to sleep, but everyone was very caring. I received a handwritten card and a very nice momento that I will cherish.

The staff at Etowah Veterinary Hospital were truly wonderful to my boyfriend and I yesterday when our cat died. They did everything they could to save him... it was just one of those things. They were very gracious to us the entire time. I cannot thank them enough.

I used Etowah Vet for 16 years with 2 different animals. I stoped taking my cat there 9 years ago when they couldn't diagnose a problem after multiple visits and lots of money spent. Took her to the cat clinic and the doc knew what was wrong without even touching her. My cat was lazy and stoped cleaning her bottom and got an infection. My mother and I share a dog and she wanted to continue using them. The past 3 years have been financially rough and we were not able to keep up with shots. Last year he got sick and they refused service unless paid in full. No payment plan are allowed. We've never not paid them before. Luckly the sickness pasted. Now he is dying from old age. He stoped eating, drinking and can barely move. He just lays there breathing, every now and then squerms and crys. We asked if they would do a payment plan to put him down cause he's in pain and they said only payment in full. They would rather him suffer. Their prices are high and I can't speek for the doctors cause there has been a few over the years. In my eyes the care of the animal comes first if they are in distress and they have proven to be lousy twice. I will not go back there. They are in it for the money.

Although the office is small and nondescript I feel the service was excellent and Dr. Bannister is a great vet. I believe his pricing is fair and he is very competent. All vets are now requiring that animals be brought in for heart worm testing prior to new prescriptions. I myself waited a little too long between visits and my dog had some immiediate concerns with her ears and digestive tract. Dr. Bannister was very knowledgable without being judgmental and I appreciated that. And nobody is ever going to say pricing is excellent but I did not feel overcharged!

When my pet began feeling very poorly after a medical procedure at this clinic I was told they couldn't do anything more for him and I shouldn't come back. Later that day I took my animal to another vet a friend recommended and they found that he had a fever, a terrible kidney infection, and that the medical procedure had been done very poorly. I will not go back to this clinic. They were very distant emotionally and possibly not well trained if they could not detect multiple infections and a fever. They told me my pet had hours to live, my new vet told me he would feel fine the next day because of the medicines they gave him. I won't ever go back to this vet and feel guilty that I put my pet through so much pain before I realized this was not a healthy place for him.

I began visiting Etowah Vet over 21 years ago. The office can be very busy at times, especially when an emergency arrives (an animal that has been hit by a car), but I have always been greeted immediately and have never felt like I have been rushed. The doctors have given my cats (all 8 of them, all together, but not at once), the care that they would give their own pets. All medical care is getting more expensive, but they are good to give options for the owner to consider.

We used Etowah since 1998 and have had little issues. In the past few years, they started charging a lot more for simple items. The event that is causing us to move on is that we tried to order our dog's flea med's through an online site, but we had to fight tooth and nail to get the vet to give us a RX for it. They wanted us to come in an have a check up first so we would have to pay for another vet visit before they would give us the RX even though they would have sold us the meds for twice the price without an appointment. We will not be going back
