I started seeing Dr. Barnes many years ago at this office. He was wonderful. Other doctors in this practice are very good. My experience with Dr. Fairbrother has been poor at best. She is difficult to speak with about medical conditions, and I was dismissed when I tried to communicate problems with her. She also delivered my baby because she happened to be on call the day I went into the hospital-- not in labor, but with other symptoms, and she insisted on inducing my labor. I was not ready to be induced, and labor and delivery turned out to be very complicated. I trusted my doctor. I would not trust her again. I am pregnant again and will not be returning to this practice for my ob care.

After spending an hour on the phone with the receptionist repeating personal information over and over again, I was finally given an appoinment for my first pregnancy appointment THREE weeks out- then she forgot what date it was and we had to start over from the beginning with all the info. After disregarding the incompetence of the receptionist and giving the Doctor a try, I was told that it was their policy to see the nurse before you were allowed to see the doctor. So here I was eight weeks pregnant and trying to interview for a doctor that would be delivering my baby and I could not even meet her. But I had invested so much time on the phone, I made the 3 WEEK OUT appointment anyway. Unfortunately I miscarried before I could make it to my first appointment. I took care of the miscarriage with the lovely group at Peidmont hospital (Dr. Nancy Cook) and loved them! I am planning on using this group next time. Don't use Dr. Fairbrother or any Northside Hospital group unless you want to be treated like a number instead of a person.

I will concur with the early two posts. I have been seeing Dr. Fairbrother for the past 3 years. I selected the practice because it was in-network and convenient to my house. Bad idea. The appointments are very quick with little consultation or interaction with the doctor. Her bed side manner leaves much to be desired. When I was dealing with some conception issues I had to ask for the appropriate tests to be run and consult with outside OB/GYN doctors to make sure that I was being adequately serviced at this practice. The nurse's bedside manner at the East Cobb office is also deplorable. I am sure some of the other doctors within this practice are better than Dr. Fairbrother, but I have not been exposed to them. If you are looking for a doctor that takes a true interest in their patients and has a consultative spirit look elsewhere. The good thing about the practice is they are timely with appointments; you don't wait long.

I have been going to this office since I was in high school and now I am 30... my mother and two sisters both go there. We initially started going to Dr Englehardt who was wonderful and very personable, but when he retired we had to choose another doctor. I chose Dr Fairborther, based on name and in the last 5 years my experience gets more and more disappointing. The wait time is awful (and you have to pay to park) and then she comes in and barely speaks, does her thing in and out... I don't feel comfortable talking to her and after waiting so long I'm frustrated and don't even feel like talking to her. I am desperately seeking another OB/GYN one that reads and familiarize herself with her patients and their health history...the last time I was there I had an abnormal Pap and do you think you even mentioned it or followed up with me on the issue. I usually don't blog, but my experience at this office has been so terrible that I thought I need to share it. The turn over rate is so high... if you are having a baby, maybe the office is good, because they seem to cater to Moms-to-Be, but if you are young and just need regular GYN care or past reproductive age like my mom, then this is not the office for you. Any recommendations???

When I found out I was pregnant I started going to this office, I requested Dr. Fairbrother but have never seen her. This office makes you see any Dr that is available, like an HMO, even though I don't have an HMO. If you aren't pregnant and you can make appts anytime you want I suppose you could see a certain Dr but during pregnancy you are required to have certain tests and visits during certain weeks and I have never been able to see this Dr.
