Food 101

I went into Food 101 for the first time on a date with my wife. We are both big foodies and love a new experience. We couldn't say enough about the food, service, and chef. Might I recommend the Tuna Tostadas..What! I nezt went there for Sunday brunch, and I have to say that I know where I'm spending a lot of Sundays this summer!

The food fell far below expectations.
We could have got that quality at a diner.
The meat is not served family style as advertised but poritioned on the plate. Our original portions could not have been more the 6 oz. We complained and the manager did bring us a little bit more. The side items were not that good. The desserts were frozen thaw and serve pumkin pie and pecan pie.

I have eaten at Food 101 many times before and had great food with plenty on the plate. We did not have that experience this time.

For 40.00 each plus being charged for soft drinks thia was a poor value.

My parents who are visiting from MI, my husband and I went to Food 101 so that we could just relax, enjoy the holiday and have a nice meal. Big mistake! We chose Food 101 based upon the menu advertised on the Open Table website. Once seated, our waiter advised us that they were out of the main entree that my father had been looking forward to having with his meal. He further advised us that the only desert they had left was pumpkin pie. At that point, my mother suggested we leave and go to the Marietta Diner for dinner. We all wish we would have taken her advice! I am sure we would have spent a lot less than the $200.00 we spent at Food 101. We were also looking forward to the whipped maple sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were the worst I've ever tasted - cubed and seasoned with PEPPER. The waiter advised us that the cooks weren't whipping the sweet potatoes anymore so these were the only sweet potatoes available. My husband's turkey was dark fatty meat that was inedible. We requested our desert be packed to go. Our waiter then told us that he had found different deserts were still available and had packed those for us too. We assumed this was to make up for all the unavailable menu items. When we got home, we realize he had not given us the pumpkin pie in addition to the other deserts but had given us two to go containers, each containing two pieces of the other listed deserts. I have to assume he found deserts that previous customers had forgotten. AWFUL!

My first visit was for a small family birthday party with ages from 18 months to 60 years. Everyone loved the food, the atmosphere and service. For the children, Food 101 was sophisticated enough to inspire their best behavior. For adults, it felt just casual enough for everyday dining yet the menu, service and surroundings were special enough to make us feel pampered. Try their delicious deviled eggs. We enjoyed the whole fried okra appetizer as well. I recommend the Lamb Chops and the Veal Tagliatelle Pasta. They have good desserts, but allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake, which was very nice. Our every request was answered with a smiling "YES, of course!" I love this place! (Best to make reservations now, even on a weeknight.)

I surprised my husband for our date night by making reservations at a place we had never been before. The service and food were great.
