Foster House

Today after much prodding from my mother we went to The Foster House for their Sunday buffet. $12.95 for all you can eat Fried chicken, creamed corn, FRESH fried okra and several other sides. The food was superb, like going to Grandma's on Sunday. The creamed corn and fried okra was the best I have ever eaten! The service was great and the place was very clean.After vising their beautiful back yard my husband and I are talking about renewing our vows here and letting them cater. As a true Georgia Peach I'm always on the search for some good southern cooking and I found it! My new favorite place. And you must try the red velvet cake, all I can say is OMG!!!!

The first few times i had dinner at Foster's was very good, but that was 3 yr's ago. The quality is gone , and so is the care. I was forgotten and seated by the bathroom door in a hall at a created spot on the moment. The door would hit us and the bathroom smells kill your hunger. We felt abused and forgotten. The food was not the same quality. I will not be returning.

The Foster House has a good selection of traditional favorites as well as updated classics. Nice decor with lovely antiques throughout. The food is good, though I've noticed some inconsistencies from visit to visit, and on my last visit, I was underwhelmed by my dessert purchase--thus, the 4 stars instead of 5. I will definitely return however, as they may have just had an "off" day.

I'd been driving by the Foster House every week for over a year and finally decided to have lunch there. A friend joined me.First of all, we were seated and then forgotten. No one came to take our order or bring a beverage until some time had passed. They apologized. The waitress did not know the prices of the daily specials (i.e salad trio) and had to go ask someone. She was late coming to refill the beverages, only after we were through eating. I ordered a salad trio which was chicken salad, crab salad, and potato salad. It was NOT crab meat, but IMITATION crab (pressed pollock white fish). No different than advertising shrimp, but when it comes, the plate has fish sticks in the shape of shrimp. Still NOT shrimp and my crab was NOT crab. The waitress had no clue. My friend ordered trout and said it was dry and tasteless. Perhaps it was frozen and not fresh? Don't know. After receiving the check, I asked to speak to the owner about the misrepresentation of the crab (which, by the way, I left on my plate) and was informed she would not speak with me (not very good public relations here!). The woman at the register was very rude to both of us. Said the crab salad was ordered by a lot of people and no one complained. Well, maybe they were ignorant as to REAL crabmeat, but I lived in Maryland, where crabmeat is a common ingredient an all restaurants and this was NOT crab! Anyway, complain and you'll be treated rudely; not with the respect a customer is due. With all the restaurants in the area, I will choose another next time. This one lost my business.

Love the food here and it is a charming place. Great restaurant
