Helpful and comfortable with knowledge of the fish, very caring, been buying from Fountain s since 1999. Come to know the staff and owners personally. I would recommend this store with comfort of... knowing that I did not miss lead them.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Bought fish two times from them, which were both had diseases on them that killed other fish in tank. They are way overpriced on everything and fish selection is poor. Customer service also sucks,... will ignore you and have to hunt them down to get any service.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I visited the Fountains Fish store in La Mesa. I purchased a very expensive fish and was told it was fine even though I questioned why the Panda Oranda Goldfish was a bit lathargic. To my dismay is was due to a parasite which infected all my other fish. I notified the store and probably wont go there again due to lack of knowledge from the staff and selling a infected fish.
They have a good selection of average fish. They don't have a dynamite selection of cichlids. The employees aren't very friendly or even helpful. Recently there have been a couple really nice, helpful guys though.
Every time I go to Fountains the people are unfriendly and will actually ignore customers. I have always wanted to ask them why they are such jerks, but I like go to visit just to look at the tanks. They have a great atmoshphere to look at when your bored but expect much out of the staff and their prices are way over priced.
The store is laid out well but their prices are a bit high. The employees usually know what they are talking about but it takes some coaxing to get it out of most of them. Their corals are quite limited.
We looked around for months for our fish tank, we were very specific about what we wanted and although Fountains didn't have it, they were so helpful to us in locating the size tank that we needed. We could not have been more impressed with the variety of sizes, colors, styles of aquariums that they carry. Also, they were great in giving us a lot of information to ask the other aquariums that I don't think many other stores would have.
We started our aquarium hobby at Fountains. When you enter the store you feel relaxed with sound of bubbling aquariums. Their selection of fish is unmatched in San Diego. We have a large tank with cichlids and they give us day after day enjoyment in watching them and their beautiful colors. The only thing negative about the store is that the staff seem to not be very friendly.
We began our home aquarium hobby at Fountains. We have a 55 gallon freshwater cichlid tank. We get all of our supplies from them. Service is OK. Some of the staff seem to be kind of short with you and not real attentive to you questions. We know what we want so that is not usually a problem. Probable the biggest aquarium store in San Diego area.
