Nothing special
We went here for Valentine's Day after reading a bunch of reviews saying how great the place is. I had high hopes for the setting -- an old church -- but it's not as dramatic as you would expect. The tables and chairs look like something your grandma bought in the 80s for her country home. Doesn't really match with the high beam ceilings and stained glass windows. e had a reservation for 6pm but didn't get seated til closer to 6:20 and the entry way is small and therefore very crowded.

The food was also just so-so. They were COMPLETELY OUT of filet mignon, lobster, a couple of appetizers, and tenderloin. And this was at 6PM on VALENTINE'S DAY. How did they plan that badly? I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which at 10.95, was a good price and it was nice and thin and crisp. The cheese sauce they put on top looked curdled but tasted OK. The sides -- mashed potatoes and green beans -- were just OK. Nothing special but didn't taste bad. My husband had the prime rib with the same sides (you don't get to pick). His steak was fine, but not any better than what you'd get at Outback.

Our waiter was slightly creepy, but generally helpful.

Overall, not somewhere I'd go back to. You can pay about the same or less and get better ambiance. Bistro 501 in Chesapeake (Broken Egg Bistro during the day) has a MUCH more interesting menu and their prices are very reasonable. Or, forget ambiance and go to Outback. You'll probably have a better experience.

It was okay
The interior is interesting - certainly not just a boxy restaurant. The food was fine, but not entirely memorable. I might try it again as the visit did not leave a negative impression.

Unique place
If you want a unique treat to have dinner- try the Freemason Abbey. It's an unusual place. The food is good.
