Some of the bargains are disappearing, victims of shrinking package sizes and rising costs (the whole-wheat pasta comes to mind, as well as the no-salt-added canned tuna). But, Fresh&Easy is still one of two stores I regularly go to (the other is Windmill Farms). Basics - bread, cheese, milk, flour, baking soda, oil, vinegar - are better deals at their regular F&E price than most stores' sale prices. (Note that F&E does not accept manufacturer coupons, but that's OK - their own house branded stuff is usually better anyway, and costs less.) The clearance stuff isn't as good a deal as it once was - 10-20% off seems typical instead of the former 30-50% off. Also, some of the packaged foods (such as their breads) have changed their ingredients over the past year so re-read the labels! Finally, I have to say that I prefer the self-checkout because it's faster, my food gets handled and bagged with greater care, and I get out the door quicker.

we have been shopping at the store in escondido since they opened. my husband and i go once a week at least and with the $5 coupon it is a great deal. also look for markdowns on things expiring soon. and their lemon dessert bars cannot be beat. big thumbs up to them.

I love how this store is set up and the fact that there are not a million choices. It is easy to shop here with my kids, I can see where my food originates, and it's WAY less expensive than other, large chains. I haven't shopped anywhere else in months. Try the Taurino. 6.99 for a 12 pack? Heck yeah. And it's TASTY.

This is a very inexpensive place to get quality food. Their food is fresh, with many organic choices. The staff is extremely helpful and will offer tastes of items you may not try otherwise. I enjoy the self check out because I am in control of my time, not depending on someone else to hurry if I need it.

Fresh & Easy is kind of like a Trader Joe's, just a tad bit bigger. This particular store in La Mesa has superior customer service and the staff is really friendly (they always offer you the 5 dollar off coupons). The produce is really fresh and they have a lot of organic selections at good prices. They have a large variety of packaged food that come very handy when you're always on the go. And if products are near the enjoy by date, they'll discount the product for you. They also have two dollar wines here too! I bought a few, and will try it soon to see how it compares with trader joe's 2 dollar wines. The only thing I'm not a big fan of is their self check-out. It's kind of confusing and I would rather have someone scan them for me because I get pretty lazy.
