I had a lovely yard that was ruined during some renovation. Subsequent years of life neglect left us almost the scariest house on the block. We contracted Garden Wonders last fall to give us some curb appeal. They cleared all the over grown ivy, shrubs and trees and put in the retaining wall we always envisioned. Susan created a garden landscape that is not only beautiful, but easy to care for. She really worked to give us the not only the layout, but the types of plants we requested. We are now the most beautiful house on the block! This spring we got a new dog and had Garden Wonders back to address the lack of fence in the back yard. They had already installed privacy fencing on either side, but the yard was still open to the alley and sides of the house. Susan and Jeff came up with the perfect fence solution that also accommodates our off street parking. The dog is very happy. We have been using our back yard more than ever. I actually enjoy gardening now that the task is no longer overwhelming. I really look forward to seeing how everything fills in an matures. Susan and her crew were on time, polite, and always cleaned up at end of day. She gave us exactly what we wanted even though we did not know what that was until she gave it to us. They were a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend them. Thanks! Mali Harrell

I have a large wooded area that was overrun with ivy. Garden Wonders worked in phases and within my budget to clear the ivy and a few dead trees and then turn the space into a woodland garden with a walking path. Now I have lots of flowering native plants and ferns that I love. Susan listened and cared about the plan and the installation, being sure to review the phases to get my input along the way. This woodland is great to walk through and to observe from within the house as well. Susan is easy to work with and I will continue to improve my property using her company.

When renovating our front yard with Garden Wonders, I found that Susan really listened to our wants and needs and addressed them while making the front yard beautiful. I mentioned that I like fragrant flowers and Susan put in creeping Gardenia along the path to the front door. In the spring, I enjoy that lovely flower's perfume each time I leave home and return. She also made sure there were more fragrant flowers in other areas of the yard at different times of the year. This is just one example of Susan paying attention. Susan's team did the work when she said they would. She taught us how to care for the plants and promptly answered the care questions we had months later. We love our space and enjoy the positive comments of our friends and relatives. Great work!

Susan's work has always been nothing but the best and she loves gardening. She is a perfectionist. Looking at most reviews which are extremely positive, clearly there was a situation which a client simply couldn't be satisfied. Sad to hear, but that happens from time to time, but rare in her case to be sure.

Garden Wonders ruined my existing irrigation system. My plants have suffered but the contract doesn't guarantee them. Susan would not even return my e-mails and phone calls. I sent certified letters and FINALLY got some e-mails denying any responsibility for my problems. It is so sad that once Ms. Gworek got the final payment (which was steep to begin with)she did not stand by the work. Unfortunately it took about a week after I had signed off on the work for me to realize things were not right. I will be astonished if this company stays in business. A little follow up would have gone a long way in smoothing things over with me; I am not unreasonable. My irrigation system has a toll free number and referred me to a certified technician to review my case. Legal counsel informed me that I was in a good position to recover my money in small claims court because nothing was done in compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations. I have decided not to bother because I have found another company to fix everything with less expense than going to court. I have saved my plants by spot watering with a hose in the meantime (NOT what you'd expect after paying for irrigation!) - Beware of Garden Wonders

As the owner of Garden Wonders, I'm always concerned when a client isn't happy. I do all I can to satisfy, but in this case that did not happen. Sometimes clients cannot be satisfied. I believe this is one of those rare cases, as exhibited by this reviewer's tendency to hyperbole. Her statement I "ruined" her irrigation system is but one example. This seems to me to be an exaggeration. This client says that I "would not even return my e-mails and phone calls". I returned her messages, but obviously I did not return all of them in the manner, timeliness or in the way she expected. This client will also be "astonished" if my company stays in business. I've been in business for 7 years and am still in business. In this case I did the best I could do and it obviously was not enough. I regret that.
In general, it is very helpful to communicate with your landscape professional as often as needed about what you are happy with and what concerns or issues you may have. If a concern is expressed, then there is a better chance of complete satisfaction.
We had a very steep and slightly shaded front lawn. Susan recommended Zenith Zoysia and her contractor, Jeff, did a great job of installing the sod to complement the existing plants in our yard. The sod rooted in within a couple of weeks and has really improved our problems with erosion. The work was completed quickly and the follow-up service has been helpful.

We had them lay sod on our front yard. In the shadiest part, the sod died. They should have known to not lay down this type of sod this prior to charging us for a whole yard. Not professional. I called to have it looked at and she NEVER came or called back. Waste of money and time. There are better companies out there.Don't get caught in the trap we got in. And she did not even try to correct the mistake-- could have addressed her error. In response to Susan's response- There was no misunderstanding about the excess sod (there should have been a discussion about shade tolerant sod) and the sod did not last 4 yrs. It lasted 6 months. We paid for your mistake. It was obvious that the front part of our lawn was shady regardless of where it was sunny. Do you buy something in hopes that most of it will last or work? No. You invest in something to see ALL of your purchase thrive or work. Choosing a shade tolerant sod would have been the best option and we could have used that extra sod elsewhere. I was disappointed not rude or threatening. A good business works with people because they communicate well. Obviously, this is not the case. I notice I am not the only client disappointed in your communication, work and follow up.

I am disappointed when a client isn't satisfied with my work. It looks like this client and I had a misunderstanding about the excess sod put in the shade when the sod was installed in the Sept. of 2006. This was a very large front yard that was predominantly sunny. We had more turf than needed to sod the yard, because sod is purchased by the full pallet. Rather than discarding the excess sod we continued to lay this sod nearer to the shady area until it ran out. I should have communicated in a better manner to the client that this excess sod may not thrive over time. In my opinion, it did fairly well in that it lasted almost 4 years.
The only sod that died was the excess sod that was shaded out over four years. I do not understand the complaint of "waste of money and time" given that the vast majority of the sod is in the sunny area continues to do well. In my opinion, putting the excess sod in the shady area was a better option than throwing it away.
My only notification of any complaint was a call almost 4 years after the installation. The client states that I "never came or called back". I did speak with her in a phone conversation at that time and did my best to address her needs, explaining what had happened. My explanation did not satisfy her and she became quite rude and threatening, so we ended on a bad note. One of the reasons I'm in business for myself is the freedom to work with people I want to work with. This client turned out to not be one of those people.
Reply to numbers4321 second comment: Some people are never satisfied. I did my best. My explanation of what I did to correct this situation and please this client still stands.
I'm not sure why some of the reviewers were unhappy with Susan's work. She did exactly what she said she'd do and did it faster than I expected. She really has a passion for her work and great customer service. I guess some people just can't be satisfied. :) Thanks Susan!

I contacted Susan because of her good ratings. However, it took 1-2 months for her to respond to me. I was ok waiting because I wasn't in a rush. She came out to the house and brought lighting and irrigation guys over the next couple of days. I was supposed to have a design in a few weeks but never heard from her again. I decided to go with Gibbs.

I worked with Susan to add some color and character to our front yard. She had some great ideas and advice on what to add to our yard. Susan is very knowledgable and provided care instructions and also keeps me up to date on water restrictions and other information needed to keep the yard looking great. I would recommend Garden Wonders to friends & family and will defninitely call again when we need more landscaping.

Susan took our small, dilapidated front lot and turned it into something very pleasing, even just a few weeks after planting. I recently worked with another local landscaper for a couple smaller jobs, but found him to be quite unreliable and unengaged. In contrast, Susan was thoroughly involved in planning our landscape, didn't push us to have a formal landscape plan put together and didn't need a lot of direction on specifics (we weren't too sure what we wanted). Susan has an extraordinary knowledge of plants and had a very good sense of what was right for our space considering size, color, texture and even smell. The plants Susan used were obviously high quality. When it came to the actual preparation/planting, Susan was present practically the entire time and did quite a bit of the work herself (along with her small, hard-working team) to ensure everything was just right. Last, Susan really went the extra mile to help us understand how to care for the plants. Throughout the whole process, Susan was reliable and responsive by phone and e-mail. I don't know what else you can ask for. Highly recommended.

Susan Gworek and Garden Wonders have transformed my backyard! What used to be a chaotic, weed-filled run-off is now an inviting patio with paths, stepping stones and lovely level space. Everytime I see my backyard and the area under my deck, my heart fills with joy and peace.

My husband and I just bought a home in Buckhead that had a wonderful 50 foot hedge that was completely taken over by weeds. I could imagine it filled with hydrangeas, but I had no idea who to call. I was going through all the reviews on landscapers, and I finally decided to call Garden Wonders. I am so glad that I did. It is a small company and you work directly with the owner, Susan. She was here the next day and we got started immediately. Susan listened to what I wanted and also made suggestions that were right on target with what I wanted. She is very creative and knowledgeable about landscape design. I could not be happier with the end result. I have no desire to use anyone else on future projects. My neighbors have now hired her as well.

I emailed this company to set up an appointment for consultation/quoate. It took over a week to receive a reply via a 9:00 PM phone call. An appointment was set during the week. I had to leave work early for this appointment, which they canceled while I was on the road, 45 minutes before the scheduled time. A follow up appointment for Saturday morning was set. They never showed up. I'm quite disappointed considering they had terrific past performance reviews. Unfortunately my experience has trumped others reviews and I will not proceed to attempt to do business with them any further.

As the owner of Garden Wonders I deeply regret that this occurred. The individual who dealt with you is no longer associated with this company for obvious reasons. Customer service and customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. If 2dogsinDecatur will contact us, we will do what it takes to make sure they are satisfied.
