I am not fond of Dr. Braunstein. He's a nice person, but I feel like he doesn't give you options, he just recommends the most expensive thing whether you are having symptoms or not. I've had more... dental work in the last 7 months with him than I have in the last 20 years. Most if it, now, I don't even think I needed. More than that, it seems like every time he does work on me, more problems arise that weren't even there in the first place. And even though he's a nice guy, he's kind of rough while working on you. There are times I'm trying to swallow and he just pushes your mouth open. Like I say, he's a nice enough person otherwise, and his office staff is really nice, but having gone to him for a while now, I just don't think he's a very good dentist. I don't feel like he really knows what he's doing and I'm going to find someone else.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
At one time I was considered a super model. Twenty years later, with 3 children and neglected teeth, I went to see Dr. Braunstein. My teeth were so yellow that I couldn't find work. My old metal... fillings were falling apart and causing decay problems. After a consult, Dr. Braunstein and I chose custom Davinci Veneers for my smile makeover along with replacing my old metal fillings and repairing the damage done by neglect. I have to say, my smile is perfect now and Dr. Braunstein is quite honestly, an artist in cosmetic dentistry! Dr. Braunstein is a great guy, honest and caring, and an expert at smile makeovers. If you want Veneers, he is your man. I highly recommend Dr. Braunstein. go to remodelcosmeticdentist .com to see my smile makeover. Sincerely, India AllenVIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

Dr. Gary Braunstein recently repaired a chip in one of my front teeth. I was on a short schedule and had a shoot the following day, nevertheless his staff was extremely accommodating and rushed me in the same day. Dr. Braunstein repaired my damage and I was on my way in under 45 minutes of being in the office. His staff treated me very well and were kind and accommodating. I am very satisfied in choosing Dr. Braunstien and his great attention to detail in his work shines bright throughout his patients results. His practice also has a great value on porcelain veneers and I recommend him to anyone looking for that famous Hollywood smile. Thank you sir. Best, Philip Odegard

I have had complicated dental work done in the past, however not up to the excellent of Dr Braunstein,'s ability. Other dentists would have recommended an implant and would have pulled my tooth. Dr Braunstein, went far beyond what other dentist would have done sculpting a new base for a crown and saving not only my tooth but 3,000 dollars as well. This practice is not just cosmetic dentistry it is a practice that is interested in the health of the patient and the care and restoration of your natural smile. The staff that supports Dr. Braunstein, are completely in step with all the new techniques and work together with independent thinking, and complete focus in the clients needs. Thank You All At Encinitas Comedic Dentistry

After wanting to close the spaces between my teeth for many years and consulting with many cosmetic dentists, I chose Dr. Braunstein to place Lumineers on my 6 front teeth. My past dentists recommended traditional veneers which are quite costly and requires shaving down some of your tooth. I personally did not feel comfortable with messing with my healthy teeth, so I went for a consult with Dr. Braunstein after learning that he offered Lumineers and seeing his excellent Kudzu reviews. He offers Lumineers and Veneers at his practice and recommended that I should go with the Lumineers, (which doesn't involve any shaving down of your teeth). Some cosmetic dentists will always tell you to go the more expensive route (veneers), but Dr. Braunstein, being the honest person that his is, recommended the procedure that was best for me, money aside. The whole process, including 2 consultations, putting the lumineers on and the final post procedure checkup went smoothly. I felt very comfortable with telling Dr. Braunstein exactly what I wanted. He was very kind and attentive to my opinions while giving me his expertise opinion on what he thought would look good. He spent a lot of time making sure that my new smile looked as good as it could and I really appreciate the extra care that he took to make me happy with the results. His staff is also very accommodating and friendly. I'm very happy with my new smile and owe it all to Dr. Braunstein:) -Charuma

Charuma, It has been my pleasure to help you achieve the smile of your dreams. I knew when we first met that you were an ideal candidate for Lumineers(no preparation of teeth required). My recommendation for patients is always to go with the least invasive procedure that will achieve the desired results. The beautiful smile that we were able to achieve for you, with no shaving of any tooth structure, validates my belief that conservative, non-invasive dentistry is the best choice when possible. For dentists not skilled in this type of dentistry, I feel they are shortchanging their patients by recommending more invasive traditional veneers due to their lack of knowledge and experience. Congratulations on doing your research and making a wise choice. Thanks for being a great patient and keep smiling!!!!!! Dr. B
I had my follow up visit this morning related to the Lumineers Dr. Braunstein customized and implemented a week ago. He's truly an experienced dental artist. The office staff is amazing and he's incredibly dedicated to his profession. He has transformed my smile and I couldn't believe how beautiful the Lumineers looked when I first viewed in the mirror. He's a perfectionist in every venue, as well as his assistants. It was only two visits; he also offers early morning as well as late appointments for those of us who have 8:00-5:00 corporate jobs. Thank you incredibly much!! Barbara

Barbara, Thanks for the kudos!!!! You look great with your new smile, and your appreciation of our efforts is music to our ears. It is heartwarming to see your face now light up when you smile and enter our office. I already notice an improvement in your self-esteem and self confidence. Hope you enjoy your new look as much as we enjoyed having you as a patient and new friend in our practice. Dr. B
I recently moved to the southern california area and contacted a few dentist offices in the area by either leaving a phone message or an email. Dr Braunstein's office was the first office to contact me and in fact contacted me on a saturday...Dr Braunstein's office made arrangements to see me on a saturday, a day they are not open. This quick visit sealed my confidence in their professionalism and work ethic. The staff is assertive in their efforts to help patients to the best of their ability, and Dr Braunstein is not only qualified as all DDS dentists are; but extremely talented in the work he performs. I highly recommend this office for any cosmetic dentistry needs!

I first met Dr. Gary Braunstein 20 years ago when he made crowns for two of my front teeth. In the following years for various reasons, I had the fortune and misfortune to see other dentists. Now, 20 years later, I have returned to Dr Braunstein for two more crowns on the adjoining teeth. I am so happy and pleased to be back! Dr. Braunstein not only does superior work but shares two characteristics with my very first dentist, who happened to be my father. Dr. Braunstein shows integrity and kindness in the way that he treats patients. Although dental techniques have changed vastly since the days of my father, the old fashion virtues of integrity and kindness are always important. Robin Karnik

Robin, a warm welcome back to our practice and for the recognition of the values I have always tried to live up to. It is the highest compliment for me to have been thought of alongside the memories of your father. I am honored to have you back as one of our cherished patients and friends.
I recently went to Dr. Braunstein's office with my husband as a new patient after moving to North County. Upon making the appointment, we were told to bring our completed paperwork to our initial consultation & cleaning. Twice they called to try to reschedule our appointments, but we had restricted schedules due to our business. After having trouble finding the office, I called for help and the person on the phone was extremely rude. She couldn't give me directions even though I was only 2 blocks away, and berated me for being late. When I finally arrived, they had the appointment times mixed up, and we had to wait for the entire office staff and doctor to get back from lunch. Then they took my completed paperwork & made copies of my insurance card before sending me back. After my consultation, x-rays & cleaning, I finally returned to the front to check out. This was more than 3 hours after I arrived for my appointment. At this time, they told my husband & myself that they are not a provider with any insurance company, and we would need to pay $600 right now to settle up. This was the most unprofessional dental/medical office I have ever been treated at. It is simply unacceptable to book new patients without informing them that you don't process insurance, and are not in ANY insurance networks.

I am sorry to hear that this is how your experience went in our office. You had an appointment at 12:30 and your husbands appointment was at 1:30. I waited until 12:45 and since you had not arrived, I went to lunch, advising my staff to call me if you showed up late. Your husband arrived around 1:00, and I returned to the office. You had still not arrived, and I learned that you had been lost and could not find the office. When you finally arrived, even though you were late, we accomodated both you and your husband into our schedule for cleanings and examinations. I even spent extra time with you to smooth and polish off cement that was left after your braces were removed. This was done at no charge, and was after your hygiene appointment. I know that my hygienist did an outstanding job on both you and your husband, as you sent an evaluation form berating our office, but noting that the hygienist was excellent. I spoke with my hygienist and she told me that your husband had alot of stain on his teeth, and that it took extra time beyond her one hour allotted to get his teeth sparkling clean. Our office is fee for service, and so we do collect for our services at the time of your visit. As a courtesy, we do bill your insurance for you and most insurance companies make payment directly to the patient within two to three weeks for cleanings, x-rays, and examinations. This should have been explained to you, but probably because of the confusion with you being late, it was overlooked. I am not saying that the way it was handled was right, but I do have patients that speak with me if they are dissatisfied with the services provided in our office. In this way, I can address their problem and make sure my staff is made aware so that similar problems or mistakes can be avoided in the future. Because you did not have the courtesy to contact me but decided instead to write a negative review, I was not able to help you. Our office policy is to discuss insurance and financial arrangements before services are provided. This includes advising our patients that we are not an in-network provider for any insurance companies, and that payment is expected at time of service, that we will bill your insurance as a courtesy for you, and that you will be re-imbursed directly by your insurance company. I hope that you are able to find a dental office that better suits your needs, and that if you ever have a bad experience in the future, you share it with the doctor so that your problem can be addressed. Open and honest communication is the best way to establish and keep a good relationship with any professional whose services you utilize. Dr. Gary Braunstein
Dr. B takes the time to give you the personal service you deserve and explain everything. I consulted with several dentists and it was not even close when it came to making a decision. The staff is also super friendly and supportive. Finally the quality and price of the service was fantastic. I love my new smile. Above even my expectations. Thanks Dr. B

"Dr B" is like a member of my family. He has done extensive work on my teeth, which I get frequent comments about my smile. I was the person who had a horrid cross bite and never smiled. I will never go to another dentist, if you want very natural teeth this is the place to find them.

Doctor Braunstien is truly an architect of smiles. He and his staff have seen me countless times after hours and on weekends when needed. There is not a distance that is too far for Dr. B to go to achieve patient happiness. Everything from cavities to veneers are thoughtfully crafted. Thank you to everyone at Encinitas Dental for giving more to smile about and being kind and patient throughout that process.

Capri, you have definitely been one of my more challenging patients. As you have become aware, I will give my all to make sure you are totally satisfied. At times, I have felt that to accomplish this for you I have had to walk on water. But the pleasure comes from your smile which lights up a room and the appreciation that you have for our compassion and timeless hours spent to make sure everything is just right for you. Our best wishes and congratulations to you and your new hubby!!!!! Dr. B
I landed on Dr Braunstein's door step yesterday after finding their office information on Kudzu and Google. You see, I had a front tooth fall right out. Not a big deal if you are 8, a very big deal at 43. I had a previous Dentist - you know, the ones with the fancy schmancy office, the low voices, the very expensive decor, and ZERO patient care or love. I wanted and needed a new dentist, and now. I also wanted one here in my home town of Encinitas. I was hoping to finally connect with a talented, honest, caring, compassionate, great results Dentist and office, for both my daughter and I, and guess what, I found them! Dr Braunstein and his amazing staff took me right in!! I now have a tooth that I desperately needed, my SMILE back, and a new Dentist for my daughter and I! You don't realize how much you can miss your smile until you lose it! They knew, and that means the world to me!! To top it all off they were more than generous in working with me financially. With gratitude and smiles! VR

Dr. Gary Braunstein: First and foremost I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your hard work and generosity. It has been a challenge for me to correct what damage had been done to your smile after three plus years of orthodontics. For someone as young as you to have to go through life with a disfigured smile because of negligient dental care upset me more than you can imagine. My satisfaction and continued passion to strive for excellence in cosmetic dentistry comes from the light that now shines when you smile and the new self confidence that you have found within yourself. My best wishes for your future happiness. Dr. Gary Braunstein
I was told by several specialists, over a year ago, that my teeth were completely hopeless. I thought, there's got to be something better out there- I came across a link to Dr. Braunstein's office from a new treatment option called Perioprotect. He and his wonderful staff have been assisting me in a comprehensive manner and so far, my teeth, my gums, my smile and my confidence have improved exponentially. Their consistent professional help & courteous support are a welcome relief from the (often) abominable dental care I have received in the past. Kudos! and Thank you! Dr.Fran p.s. I concur with one of the other reviewers: Dr. Braunstein actually listens and respects my opinion and the healing taking place feels like a Team Effort- Although many places claim to be, I'd have to say this office truly is a Holistic Practice.
