Never Again, 11/29/2010

Met up with friends for a birthday dinner on Saturday and was very surprised that the dining area was basically dead. Since we were early, my date and I had drinks at the bar. The bartender was... awesome and made great drinks! This was the only plus of the evening. Once we were seated, our server came, but forgot to refill our water, or even ask people for their orders! Our sushi took forever to come out despite it again, being basically dead there. The menu selection was sparse at best. I'll go again for drinks, but nothing more.

Top Notch Sushi, 11/03/2010

Went for drinks after work with 2 coworkers. Loved the variety of cocktails and sake. I had a martini that was made with sake...very unique and refreshing. We decided to order some sushi while we... drank. Really unique ""hollywood roll"" that was a fried california roll. We also had a soft shelled crab roll that was very fresh. We loved the hip music and fun japanesse movie playing over the bar. I plan on coming back with a date.

Pleasantly Surprised

I recently visited Geisha House with my girlfriend and another couple. We were surprised by the Sexy Sleak interior. We were seated in a spacious booth that overlooked the entire restaurant. The music was a nice mix of old school and modern. We shared an assortment of sushi and sashimi that was very fresh and creative. We also lamb chops and crab legs which were very tender. Overall a hidden jewel in Atlantic Station. We will be back.

Worst Service Ever!!!

The worst service ever! I ate here Saturday night for a friends birthday party. The service was awful from the minute we walked in the door. The hostess would not let us sit until all 6 people arrived. Five of us were already there and the hostess told the birthday girl to let her know when ""she get it together"". The hostess then told us we could sit at the bar and wait for the last guest to arrive. About 5 minutes later the hostess came to the bar and said she would go ahead and seat us because other people wanted to sit at the bar. Once seated the service got even worse. The server was nowhere to be found for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. We sat with empty drinks for way too long. The food came out a little at a time. One person in our party did not get her food until 10 minutes after everyone else. The only thing I can think is the server did not care since her tip was added to the ticket since there were 6 of us. The food was good but due to the poor service my friends and I will never eat here again! \r

Take note of the recent reviews

I have wanted to try Geisha House since it opened last year. Monday nights have become 50% off sushi nights due to having a few restaurants near by offering such promotions (i.e. Aqua Bistro in Buckhead). After hearing Geisha was now doing this it made sense to give it a try. The first thing I do before making a reservation is to check out the CitySearch reviews. Luckily the recent horrible posts caught my attention enough to be skeptical until our dining experience proved differently. The first thing we noticed after being seated in the main dining room was the six people at four different tables all wearing ball caps. Wouldn't you think a place that charges as much as Geisha would have some sort of dress code? My girlfriend and I started by ordering three very different plates which would allow us to gauge what we were getting ourselves into. We started with the tuna tataki, rainbow roll, and two pieces of hamachi nigeri. Tuna Tataki- ($14) maybe seven very thinly sliced inch and a half seared tuna sashimi pieces drowned in sauce; Rainbow Roll- ($10) pathetic... very small, try taking a piece of the tuna off the top and eating or even smelling it separately, and finally the two miniature pieces of salmon negeri which were simply miniature, but the fish seemed fine ($6). Needless to say we asked for the check and headed over to IKEA for two hotdogs and cinnamon rolls for $3 including tax.\rOne good thing to note is that they are no longer automatically charging the 18-20% gratuity on the bill although we did leave 20% of the pre-discount amount because the service was fine.

Oh, The Horror!

Pros: Swank interior design. THAT'S IT FOLKS!\rCons...\rWas I in the twilight zone? I wanted to just get the meal over with and leave. I was so excited about what appeared to be a posh sushi joint, right? What a better event then my boyfriend's birthday! We were greeted, if that's what you can call it, by three very young women who were more into the contents of their purses behind the counter then us. One of the girls mumbled our way and seated us out in the middle section of the restaurant - which was not good because I had requested, via the reservation line, that we have ""intimate seating."" I started looking around - and to my shock the waitresses were in tank tops. Not even ""nice"", somewhat expensive looking tank tops - red wife beaters. Can't you get those in a 5pk at Wal-Mart? What happened to Kimonos and/or white blouses with black pants? I ended up paying $45.00 for an $11 ""screw off top"" bottle of wine, and over $90 for less then amusing sushi. The salmon tasted funky and overall it was just a horrible experience. I'm the kind of person who never really understands people that make a fuss about nothing but THIS was unacceptable. The manager was sloppy. The music was this hip/hoppy LOUD noise and it was just BAD. If you're like me you'll be expecting to walk into an upscale, swank place (which at first, you will!) then, instead of hearing melodious Japanese music or something mood setting it's in your face thug junk. Did I mention the employees walking around with unkempt appearances? It was ridiculous. I was embarrassed to be sitting there and then to be given a bill that was worth maybe $45? It was offensive. After, we went to Publix next door and I couldn't help but notice how all the employees were so pleasant and clean looking! FORGET GEISHA HOUSE! We'll go right down the road to our local Japanese hibachi/sushi place from now on!

Not impressed

I was highly disappointed in this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice but too ""club"" like and they staff didn't seem to know the menu enough, were agitated and seemed to want to socialize with each other than work. The food was SO not that great and the prices were ridiculous. I looked forward to going here after I had read about it and good grief...I won't be back.

great for groups!

I came here on a friday night for my friend's birthday with 11 other people. not only was our food delicious-- the sushi was fresh and innovative-- but the service was impeccable! usually when dining with a large group of friends, especially my friends who always like to alter their orders, the kitchen/wait staff always seems to mess up one of our orders, but they got everything exactly right! i like to eat out a lot and am always annoyed when i have to send my food back, so i was pleasantly surprised when everything came out exactly (and better) than expected! it was also not too loud to hear conversation across the table. what a great experience for such a big group! i will definitely be returning here soon.

awesome, but pricey

This place isnt cheap, but I'd say it is worth it. The kobe iron roll was a little underwhelming, but everything else we had was top notch. The king crab legs were phenomenal.

Avoid the ""50% off night"" go anywhere else

I went to the Geisha House a few weeks ago on a sunday. Now on Sundays they claim to have 50%off food. Sounded promising. We get there and order, the wait staff and the food is ok. You could do better by going to Rusans,Strip,Shout, or Zuma. This place has the nerve to add the Gratuity (15-20&)to the bill automatically. They also add a ""service fee"" I think that was like 30% to the bill. I beleive they add this fee like twice. so lets recap. 50%off plus 15-20%gratuity(no matter how crappy the service),plus 30% service fee, plus the service fee again at the bottom of the bill30%. so that basically is nothing off. Save your money and goto a place above. better service,
