I just refinanced my house with Georgia Southern. Everything that they told me was correct. They took the time to explain to me the ENTIRE process, unlike the other companies that I called. I got the rate I was promised and the fees that were originally quoted.

Georgia Southern was the only one that could get my loan done. I had been turned down due to an appraisal issue. I had given up. A friend referred me, so I called and they paid for a new appraisal ( they got the value )and closed my loan on time at the lowest rate and closing cost. Thank you Gerogia Southern Mortgage.

They promised one thing and delivered another. Then they lied about it. Do not believe that the closing costs are $2995 and that they can get you a better rate. I went with them, because they gave me a better rate, but the day before closing, they called to say there had been a rate hike and the fact that we were locked in didn't matter. I know they lied, because the original paperwork sent from the lender has the same payment as the day of closing, which supposedly included the rate hike. stay away. they are unprofessional and liars.

Jeff and Amanda were great to work with! I just closed on a foreclosed house in Gwinnett County as Jeff/Amanda were a huge help with overcoming the many hurdles associated with a foreclosed home. I shopped around and found that GA Southern had not only the lowest rates, but also the lowest closing costs as Jeff was very accurate with what I would need to pay. Great people to work with as I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I locked for a refinance when rates were at about the bottom. After four months waiting to close, they finally said they could close in a week if I went up 1/8th on the rate. Then when I agreed, the fees on the settlement statement bore no resemblence whatever to the good faith estimate I had been provided. Including an additional $500 charge payable to GA Southern. Classy. Stay away.

I worked with Jon Jarrett; the experience was both good and bad. GOOD: Jon always answered the phone when I called (which was often) and explained everything matter-of-factly, with no pressure tactics or fast talk. Great loan terms -- best interest rate anywhere, free float down, and Jon helped me lock at the bottom during a very volatile time for interest rates. On top of that, Jon's fee was extremely low compared to all other brokers I looked at. BAD: The lender Jon chose (MetLife Home Loans) was TERRIBLE in their service to both of us. They took forever to underwrite the loan and send my appraisal, then used their tardiness and my own rights against me to delay the closing by two days -- and then tried to do it again late on the afternoon prior to closing! Then they kept us all waiting at the closing table for 3 hours until finally wiring the money to the attorney. Very shady and unprofessional.

Started working w/ Jeff. He wouldn't return calls. He promised rates and closing costs he couldn't deliver. he informed me that people that complained or asked questions were put to the bottom of the list and eventually not closed. Buyer beware-why put up with this less than average customer service in a service oriented business. I would highly suggest moving on to a different broker group for a refinancing project.

We started working with Jeff 6 months ago. I asked for a GFE at the outset and never received it, but got set to close anyway. He called in December and offered a rate reduction - which we were thrilled about even though we anticipated it would delay closing by a couple of weeks. However, 5 months later, we're still waiting to close. Jeff will NOT return phone calls or e-mails, blames the delay on underwriting but can't give us an answer on when the loan might be finished with underwriting. If they are such a high volume broker, shouldn't he have a clue about timing? We asked for a GFE again last week, with 4 calls and e-mails in the interim, but have received nothing. I feel like an idiot for waiting so long to look elsewhere. It seems there are some reviewers that have had a great experience with Georgia Southern Mortgage, but my advice is: Do not try to do business with this company - it will only frustrate you.

1st phone call went well and he seemed to give me a .5 percent off what was advertised to try be my friend... A week goes buy and after jumping through hoops, and going along with I'm Jeff and I'm a high volume loan dealer that doesn't seem to understand customer service for a week and half. He calls and says that he would pass on giving me a loan after going through with all of the loan process and the day before my house was to be appraised. His response is I took too long to give him the information he needed when the day previous he told me that it would take months to close on the loan and not to worry about it.. Thanks for wasting my time. Jeff nothing personal but you need an attitude adjustment. You and your high volume loan sales talk... Pfft what ever. Beware.

I asked to view settlement costs before closing and they were $1400 higher than Good Faith Estimate. Also, was not made aware of discount points until closing. I did not close on loan. Beware of excessive processing and administrative charges.

Tried to refinance with Jeff. He told me he was waiting for word on the second mortgage. 3 months later and still no word! Would not return e-mails or phone calls. He never told me there was a problem. I have sinced refinanced and used the same company for my second. The process took 2 weeks with the new company. Jeff obviously promised something he couldn't deliver. Be aware!

Good Service from Jeff. Rates/Points were very good, best in town I could find. Everything was done promptly and on time. I too was a little disappointed that I needed another $2500 at closing for standard reserves than I was quoted on the GFE, but I had a feeling that this was coming as I they were lower than normal. Overall, I'd use GS again. Good, straight forward, efficient experience.

Great low rate, but Jeff wouldn't give APR even tho req'd by law. Very little commun. throughout. Got the amount needed for cashier's check 45 min. prior to closing and was $4500 higher than GFE. Reason: Didn't verify actual payoff amount until closing. I walked away. Seems like Jeff is the consist. problem in these bad reviews. I concur.

I was not very happy with the attitude, or the service I received when contacting Georgia Southern Mortgage Group. I was placed on hold, the person on the phone did not seem to have any information or the answers I was looking for. When I asked to speak to someone else, I received a lot of attitude. I will not be calling back.

I'm sorry you don't qualify for the loan that you were asking about. When that was explained to you , you didn't accept that and wanted to speak to somone else. There was no one else to speak with as everyone was out of the office by that time of day. The reason you were put on hold is that we have a streamline operation at low rates and low closing cost. We do answer our own phones to try to keep costs down and still remain professional.
