Best Ever!
I live in Gwinnett and will not take my dog to any other place! The staff is amazing and caring. They worked wonders for both my pom pom and my pitbull! I love this place and highly recommend them to everybody I know! They know what they are doing and they do it right the first time.

Great emergency care
It probably took less than 30 seconds for the vet tech to remove my dog from the car and disappear into the ER, from the time I walked through the door. There was no wait for complete ID info or a discussion of symptoms or how/if I could pay - immediate care was their obvious priority, and everything else came after. I've had dogs treated here at least 6 different times, and they received outstanding care each time. When I asked about options I always got complete information and detailed phone calls from the doctor when needed. It's a two-hour drive for me, but I'm glad to know they'll be there when I need them.

Very attentive to patients
We had to take our cat here to see two specialists. I was amazed at how great everyone was and how they were very compassionate of our boy. One doctor had worked 20 hours straight and still treated us like we were her most important clients (which, considering the emergencies we were seeing, we certainly were not at the top of the trauma list). The staff was great and they always had time to let us visit with our cat in a private room. We were never rushed, whether just visiting our boy or talking with one of the techs and/or doctors. And wow, the place is clean. Their pricing is appropriate when you consider the level of service and the ongoing educations and certifications that these doctors maintain. They really do specialize - I'm thankful that they are close-by in case we ever need them again! A very trustworthy business!

24 hr Vet ER
This is not your average vet. This is where you (I) go in a pinch in the middle of the night. This is the true ER of vet medicine.

They are not as heart-felt or warm as my regular vet but up with you should you need them. I have used them twice (punctured eye, and UTI on holiday). They did a great evaluation of the pet. They are very responsive to special needs. I received lots of information on what to do and how to follow up (and recommendation for pet optimologist). Their prices were very steep but at 2 am with a sick animal. you do not have many choices. The information and medicine they gave me was exactly correct.

It is good to know that they are there when you need them!...

Knowledgeable but definitely lacking....
I was unsure of how to rate this hospital. There are definitely positives. The vets are definitely knowledgeable and that matters when you have an emergency or are seeing a specialist. I have also found the vets to be very nice. I continue to take my pets to GVS to see one specialist and for emergency care, but only because there are no good other options out there.

GVS is expensive. I expect this from a specialty or emergency practice and would have not quiffs about thisif they were outstanding in all areas. They are not.

The front desk staff vary and while they can be nice, they can also be horribly rude and uncaring. This is not what you need when you have a sick or dying pet. I can't believe they do not have better management.

Vets often whisk your pet to the back (I agree sometimes necessary), but leave the client in the waiting room with no consultation in an exam room, just a brief check in in the waiting room. If you are paying $1000 this is not appropriate. It is not appropriate anyway.

GVS has visiting hours and will not let you spend more than 15 minutes with your hospitalized pet (see their website). This is appalling. Pets often do best with their owners present. My regular vet (who is quite large) encourages owners to visit their pets at any time the office is open. The fact that GVS will not do what is best for the pets (and often the owners) especially when people are faced with the last days with their pet is unconscionable....
