I needed stump grinding for 11 tree stumps. I saw all of the great reviews for Gordy's Stump Grinding and called him. He got back to me promptly and came right over to check things out. I was... thrilled with his very reasonable estimate. I had them start that minute. While Gordy and his son, Scott, were grinding away, they asked me if I wanted an additional small fat palm tree removed. Yes! After finishing all of their work they didn't even charge me extra for the palm tree they added. I insisted that I pay more because I was so thrilled with their work. Gordy and Scott are both great people, if you need stump grinding, call them.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Well I just had Gordy and Scott over to grind out 16 huge oleander stumps, that have been a thorn in my side since we moved in. What can I say true professionals. I wish every company had there... good work ethic. They showed up on-time, prepared and ready to get to work. Not only did they do what they said, but they cleaned up after themselves and also guarantee their work and would come back for free if any grew back! All for the very reasonable price we originally agreed upon. I would absolutely recommend them to any one in need of their services.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

Gordy's Stump Grinders were everything they said they were. They showed up when they said ground out our stump in no time and did an excellent clean up job. Friendly, personal, and definitely customer first and foremost. Will absolutely recommend and use again. These guys are the best at what they do.

My husband is a "do it yourself" type and removed over a dozen trees from our yard. The stumps were the only daunting part - especially since some of them were in a very tight spot surrounded by concrete. I thought ours would be a difficult job, but I can tell these guys have done much tougher jobs than ours. They have contracts with several cities, colleges, etc. so I was worried it would cost a lot more money than the "cheap" guys. Happy to find out I was wrong! Their prices are very reasonable, and they did all the stumps in less than 2 hours. The equipment they use is more advanced than most. They own grinders of various sizes, and have modified them to make them more powerful, fit in tight spots, etc. Basically, they're doing it the "smart way", not the "hard way". The "tight spot" machine was especially helpful with our job (none of the concrete was damaged). What I especially liked was the workers themselves. Gordy and his son Scott were super-friendly, and it feels great to support such a nice Father/Son team (they told me they could get bigger if they wanted, but prefer to just keep it as the two of them). We would use them again in a heartbeat - highly recommended. (We're in Carlsbad - they service all of the San Diego area)

This was one of those categories where I was pretty clueless, stump grinding is not something I need done on a regular basis. I called them off craigslist and they returned my call promptly and showed up to give me a quote the next day. I showed them all the stumps I needed(like 10 different banana tree stumps) they quoted me a fair price and got right to work. As they were going I asked about other trees that were annoying me, they took care of those as well. I was really pleased with how easy they were to deal with! They even referred me to some people for other jobs I needed done around the house. Then my wife came home and told me I was supposed to have them grind a tree in the back as well. They were already loaded up, but took the 5 extra minutes to knock out the last one. Great guys, great service, great company!

Im a big do-it-yourselfer, worked construction, been in the military, and pretty much covered the gamit of jobs, but I gratefully hired Gordy's to do this one for me. Do yourself a favor and call them if you need a stump removed. We had a 50 year old Ficus stump in our front yard that had roots going out at least 12 feet in each direction that were probably 10 inches high, along with 6 other smaller stumps. Our yard was a complete mess of nothing but roots. Gordy and his son Scott came out with a stump grinder the size of small car and did twice as much work as I was expecting for their quoted price. Im the type of person that will spend 6 hours on the internet to save $10. So I reasearched this task sure I could do it myself and save a buck. Turns out the largest stump grinder I could rent costs nearly $200/day and is half the size of the one used by Gordy. The smaller stump grinder means it takes longer and does not go down as deep. After seeing what they did, I estimate it would have taken me two days to complete this task, plus my labor, plus the risk of not knowing what I was doing. Do the math yourself. But I ended up saving a ton of cash and headache, plus Gordy and Scott are super awesome dudes and I had a blast BS'ing with them after they finished the job. Great service, would hire them again in a second.

I called Gordys to finish a stump that another stump grinder said they couldn't finish due to rocks embedded in the roots. Scott came out the next morning said it would be no problem and that would only charge me the minimum ($125), but he needed a bigger machine and would be back the following morning. Gordy and Scott started at 8:30 and there was no trace of my stump by 9:00 (and ground out my surface roots as well). They told me if I came across any more roots I needed ground that they would come back and grind them free of charge....Are you kidding me........Now that's service! These guys are a class act.

You don't always get a good read on people when everything goes right. But when something goes wrong you learn a great deal. We had Scott and Gordy come out to remove a very large, stubborn stump and root system. After starting their work it was clear it would take much more effort than they estimated. Instead of trying to strong arm more money from us they took responsibility for the job and finished it. This was a large area and even with a couple of clean up times a rogue root was lost in the rubble. When we spotted it later that night we called them and they said no problem, came all the way out to Vista from El Cajon and removed the hidden root. Not only did they do a great job, they proved their integiry. I will and am recommending these guys to anyone. Quality work from quality people.

We needed a stump removed - not a big one, but beyond my skills. They brought the right equipment and had it done quickly. Also provided some knowledgeable information about root growth, etc. And I appreciated that they arrived when they said they would. (5-minutes early)

Honest, courteous, fair, thorough, and on time. Actually, Gordy and Scott showed up 15 minutes early. Having a large yard we deal with many different contractors and over my 5 year experience, NONE have been as professional as Gordy's Stump Grinding. Save your time and money and give them a call. They go above and beyond expectations.

We contacted Gordy in early Jan to grind down a huge Yucca and 7 pines. When I called back in April he remembered every detail of the job. He arrived on time, did everything as discussed + did 2 more stumps for free and even left me and my wife free t-shirts. Simply the best.
