After years of not feeling comfortable with straight Docs, I was excited to find a gay one -- but was judged less by my old Tucker Doc, nurses and staff than anyone here. You sit and wait, and wait - with posters for fat reduction, laser hair removal, skin creams. Thought I was in a plastic surgeons office. The awesome "Sam" at the front desk who everyone talked about is gone - replaced with much less friendly or helpful person, which pretty much sums of the rest of the staff. I suggest looking elsewhere for healthcare.

In 2006, I began looking for a gay-friendly physician, who was familiar & comfortable with gay male health concerns. (This was after my primary doctor left practice to teach medicine - a female doctor who was awesome, and I hadn't been to a doctor's office in three years.) I knew of two by-name-only associates who saw Dr. Gurley. I called up his office to ask some questions. It was difficult as the person answering the phone - who while nice - was difficult to understand, due to a heavy accent. It took awhile to get my paperwork transferred from Emory to Dr. Gurley; and I had to call no less than four times to get it resolved. While I like Dr. Gurley's care and his two male nurses - who are exceptional care givers - Dr. Gurley seems to have a problem keeping reliable staff or staff follow-up. As he does not accept many insurance programs, he is quite expensive. I've recently had several problems with billing, or trying to be invoiced for items from 1 1/2 yrs ago - which had been paid. I've grown tried of the drama & am now looking for another physician. You'll have to decide whether it's worth seeing a good doctor & good nurses, but dealing with a mediocre office staff. 061409 update. The billing dispute was resolved AFTER I had contacted my attorney, Unfortunately, I'll rank Dr. Gurley low for satisfaction. Billing resolution is terrible.

Dr. Gurley and his staff are truely what every doctor's office should strive to be! They're all very funny and kind. Dr. Gurley listens to everything you have to say and has a great sense of humor to make you feel at ease. My husband and I would often go in together and we were both so comfortable with him that we felt we could talk to him about anything. The only down fall....he's doesn't accept our insurance! If something major comes up though, we still go see him. That's how awesome he is! The building that Dr. Gurley's office is in is more like an art gallery than a doctor's office. It has a very modern upscale feel to it.

I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness of both Dr Gurley and his staff. He was genuinely concerned with my health and made me feel relaxed. He answered all my questions. I had anticipated seeing him for many years to come. However, I have now had billing issues with his office manager who was not helpful at all. I am having second thoughts about continuing to use this good doctor.
