Just had cataract surgery this past week and can see now better than 20-20. He is a kind good man who is an excellent listener - takes his time, answers all questions and "CARES". The office is... large, staff friendly - "very efficient" and once called you are in the best hands possible. These Techs know their business and you are then well on your way to a lifelong adventure of restored sight. I am so happy I have told everyone that will listen what he did for me. Carol F. Dr. Hamilton is a kind, caring, compassionate eye physician who also is the best cornea specialist in Atlanta. When I asked my MD friends for a referral to a good cornea specialist, Dr. Hamilton's name was always the first mentioned. I have been a patient now for nine years and my opinion of his abilities and admiration of his skills have only increased with time. I highly recommend him for any cornea problem.
About seven years ago, I had lens replacement surgery on both eyes; the surgery was performed by someone other than Dr. Stephen Hamilton. The left eye was text book; everything went as expected. The right eye was problematic; nothing went as expected. After three surgeries on the right eye, and still no success, I decided to live with the results, though they were less than optimal. A few months ago, I decided to investigate getting the right eye corrected. This time I went to see Dr. Hamilton. He was confident he could correct the issues remaining from my previous surgery; so I agreed to the procedure. Sure enough, this time, the surgery was successful, and I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. I am very appreciative of Dr. Hamilton and his staff, and would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Hamilton did my cataract surgery using Crystalens and the results have been marvelous. I could not see this well even when I was young. My distance vision is amazing and close vision continues to improve. Before the surgery I could not distinguish dark colors from each other and now I can easily do so, and all colors are so much brighter. Dr. Hamilton is an excellent and caring physician and his staff is pleasant and professional. I have been really pleased with my results and highly recommend Dr. Hamilton for cataract surgery.
Dr. Hamilton is an amazing and gifted doctor who truly cares about his patients. He performed my cornea transplant over a year ago and I have had excellent results. I can now see! I can drive, work, and live a life less complicated because my vision has been restored. I went to many doctors, in several states, and was not comfortable with my choices. As soon as I met with Dr. Hamilton, I knew I had found my doctor. I had been delaying my surgery because I had not found “the one.” Dr. Hamilton is the “one!” Trusting someone with something as important as your eyes is not a consideration to be taken lightly. Not only am I, along with many others, highly recommending Dr. Hamilton, but if you do more research, you will find he has impressive credentials as well. Intelligence, skill, experience, and compassion are just some of the benefits you receive as a patient. He has a great staff too. I hope you find your gift of vision, like I did because of Dr. Hamilton.
Dr. Hamilton is a Great Eye Doctor/Surgeon. He looked at my eyes and gave me the options available. I chose Crystal Lenses which has really been an exceptional change in my vision. It is clear and the focus is great for distance and also for close up reading. My vision improved to 20-15 which is as good as an old man 68 can count on. Dr. Hamilton was always concerned, answered all my questions and always commented on how well the replacement was working. I had been looking through a yellow haze, but didn’t know it until after the first lens replacement. The colors are very vivid. I can tell black from blue now. He did say that I had small eyes and that caused him to really work hard to get the lenses in place. What he was talking was bout the iris opening and not necessarily the size of the eye ball. But he did a great job and now has a feather in his cap, that he can work with a small eye as well. The staff was also very courteous and most helpful. I recommend him to all my friends.
I've got a genetic condition that caused my corneas to go from clear to gray. Dr. Hamilton did my first corneal transplant in 1995, the other eye in 2005. I'd be blind without these operations. Dr. Hamilton has been excellent, always cautious about doing surgery. And he's very helpful when I ask questions. If you need a corneal transplant, Dr. Hamilton is your doctor!
At 50 I found out that I had the early stages of cataracts. By age 54 I was nearly blind in the right eye and my left was also deteriorating fast. I thank the good Lord for sending me to Dr Hamilton for I now have near perfect vision and I no longer need to wear glasses. Dr Hamilton is obviously a very gifted eye surgeon and also a very caring person. I highly recommend him.
I travel far across town to see Dr Hamilton although other Drs are closer. He is an exceptional Ophthalmologist, explains what he has found, clearly answers questions and has a very pleasing personality. His support staff is excellent as well. He corrected a cataract surgery problem on my wife caused by another Dr. He treats me for Glaucoma and I'll have him do my cataract surgeries when the time is right. Anyone interested in their eye health, whether they have current problems or not, would do well by visiting Dr Hamilton for regular check-ups.
Dr. Hamilton diagnosed my problem and told me the pros and cons of each replacement lens. The results are better than I expected, he explains things and his follow up is outstanding.
I was referred to Dr. Hamilton after being told by another Dr. that I would never have good vision again. Dr. Hamilton calmed my fears, correctly diagnosed my issue,Kerataconus, and restored me to 20-20 vision. I had an Intact implanted that works great. All of the staff including Dr.Hamilton have been easy to work with, compassionate and of good value considering the wonderful results I have from his practice.
I'm 42 years old and was suffering for years with cataracts. When the problem became acute last year, I was referred to Dr. Hamilton for surgery. From the outset, Dr. Hamilton was very honest and thorough in explaining what would be involved in removing my cataracts and replacing them with Inter-Ocular corrective lenses. He did a great job of setting my expectations in this process, and made the experience more than tolerable. Before the process was started, I had difficulty reading anything due to my cataracts and acute astigmatism. I had to wear a baseball cap at my desk to read my computer monitor because of the glare from overhead lights. After 7 months, 10 office visits and 4 surgerical procedures, I have 20/20 vision without any glasses or contacts. While I could've gone to any number of surgeons to correct the problem, I would be hard pressed to find someone who was so professional and who cared as much about his patients. Dr. Hamilton did a great job, and I would gladly recommend him to anyone who needs an eye surgeon.
I rarely write letters but I was so impressed by Dr. Hamilton I wrote the one I've enclosed below. The guy is genuine, honest and really talented. July 13, 2009 Dear Dr. Hamilton, I’m writing to express my gratitude for the professional and kind way you handled my recent eye issues. As you’ll recall, I’d ask you to determine if I was a good candidate for laser surgery or some other vision enhancing procedure. Your behavior and advice erased years of cynicism I’d built up about the medical profession. First, you performed some comprehensive tests on my eyes for a most reasonable fee. Then just to make sure your initial evaluation was accurate you asked me to come back and be tested a month later for no additional cost! As it turns out the second evaluation confirmed your first diagnosis – I was not a good candidate for any sort of eye enhancement procedure. You could have so easily charged me several thousand dollars but I don’t believe that option ever crossed your mind. Furthermore, the prescription you gave me for new glasses has enabled me to see immensely better than with a prescription my optometrist had given me just six months ago. The bottom line is this – I am convinced that not only are you the doctor who can best execute these vision improving enhancements but you can also be counted on for a sincerely honest evaluation. Thank you so very much. Sincerely, Simeon Smith
Dr. Hamilton is very gentle and friendly. My experience is that it is rare to find a doctor with his expertise that has compassion and bedside manner. No wonder all of the patients in his waiting room are crazy about him. I went to him for cataracts a few years back. He told me that they weren't too bad and I could wait awhile until my vision was worse. I felt like he wanted what was best for me, not trying to rush me into surgery. Last year I didn't feel safe driving anymore and decided to have surgery. I felt very comfortable in Dr. Hamilton's hands. He discussed my alternatives for implants, and explained that crystalens wasn't perfect but it was currently his favorite. He said that his patients with this implant in both eyes can go without glasses at least 80% of the time. He said that many will need glasses for reading fine print but can do most everything else without glasses. I decided this was for me, and I am one of the lucky ones! It has taken some time and work, but I can do EVERYTHING with no glasses, drive, see caller ID, read, even sew, and it just keeps getting better(it's been 6 months now). I would recommend Dr. Hamilton to anybody as someone who has the best skill, is very caring and is someone you can trust your eyes to.
