Read this before signing the waiver...
I have been bringing my dog to Happy Paws for the past 3 years The staff has always been fantastic and my dog really enjoyed going. Unfortunately my dog was seriously injured this past January on a clamp that was sticking out of the fence. It literally sliced her side open. She had 2 emergency surgeries and luckily survived. The owner is very difficult to deal with anyway- but was even more so during this situation. She offered to pay half the vet bills and give me some free daycare. When I expressed that I felt she should pay the full vet bill she got very nasty, but agreed that she would. Much to my dismay she did not follow through on paying and I had to take her to small claims court Unfortunately I lost because of the waiver I signed when I first brought my dog there. Apparently the waiver protects them from paying- whether they are negligent or not. It was a bad situation turned into a nightmare. It really is a shame because if the owner would have handled the situation differently I still wouldn't have anything bad to say about them. But based on my experience I will never take my dog to any daycare again and will certainly think twice before signing any waiver....

As in every situation there is more than one side to a story. Yes her dog was burt from a flat bolt sticking out 1/2" - 71" HIGH (5'11") on a chain link fence. The dog had ONE surgery from the accident. The second surgery was from infection that set in due to after surgery care. I SENT a check for ALL expenses due to the accident including follow up visits. She choose to go to court because she wanted more money even increasing the amount at trial. The judge did not rule immediately based on the wavier. He took photos, correspondence, bills and forms for review. He came back with his ruling in Happy Paws' favor a week later. Our's was the second day care this dog was hurt at on a fence due to her incredible jumping ability. Everyone of us was upset the day this happened as a result of a squirrel running across the top of a 10 foot fence and all the dogs ran to the fence to get it. Only her dog jumped over 6 feet in the air in it's attempt to get the squirrel. She lost balance and fell into the fence and thus the bolt. We had our fences inspected top to bottom the very next day for ANYTHING at ANY HEIGHT to be removed. I'm glad her dog is ok. She is a great dog. We all genuinely care about her and my staff did an outstanding job responding to this accident.
